Icon4 CFG File Issue "disable_events= true" Please Help? Really Don't Know If I Should Turn It On

I am currently playing the THERA mod, disable events=true is on, does that mean events are disabled? What I am wondering is if this is preventing me from seeing more game content, if I turn it on will it be on in my saved game?

    Stay with the mod's default.

I don't think the lines with the # are read by the game, it's probably been left there since testing.

BTW, this should have been posted in the corresponding forums (THERA hosted forums or Misc. section here), as this has nothing to do with Skins, Models, and Animations. There are also quite a few tutorials out there covering the setup of the .cfg file (as well as the Docudemons)

The function for what this does is probably the same in THERA and Medieval 2, so what exactly changes when you have this disable events thing enabled? There are some special events on the campaign map or something?
Events are generally all the scroll 'pop-ups' that appear during the campaign, used mostly to simply inform of the player of things going on, and usually have accompanying effects. They include the 'Faction Destroyed', 'Faction Emerged' and other scripted events (For example, 'Polybian Reforms' or 'Marian Reforms' in the classic era mods).

As to the functionality between THERA and M2, you are correct because the .cfg file's functioning is all hard-coded within the game itself. All mods will never change the functionality of the .exe, with the exception of memory patch mods (Don't exist right now, but some are in development for both RTW & M2TW). As to what the 'disable_events' actually does, I would have to guess that it simply disables the pop-up, but the scripted effects should still be functioning. Sounds cosmetic to me than actually changing the game.

So yes, you could run the game with that function enabled and with no difference, other than being completely clueless now of the things happening around you (For example, if a 'Polybian Reforms' or 'Marian Reforms' event happens, the effect should still function, but no 'pop-up' would appear to inform you of it)

A hash (or semi colon) in front of a line means that entry will not be processed. This method is also used to leave comments in a file, hence it's referenced as 'commented out'.

The disable_events entry will prevent historical events to be shown (not sure if they are processed script wise). Not to be confused with 'event_cutscenes' which regulates the display of stuff like 'general died' and 'walls broken' in-battle movies.

Moving this from 'models' to 'text editing'
