    Afternoon all!

Before you get reading, a quick reminder that you can see more of Imperator Augustus live at 3pm BST over on the Official Total War Twitch channel: http://www.twitch.tv/totalwarofficial

Now, today we have another bio for you, taken from the upcoming Imperator Augustus campaign, this time on the man that was Marc Antony!

    Now, the to the bio:

Marc Antony had proved himself a staunch, loyal and superb general under Caesar during the Gallic Wars, and such service brought benefits. The two men became friends on that long campaign, and their growing professional and personal bond saw Antony dispatched to Rome in order to further Caesar’s ambitions, while securing his own political advancement.

As elected Quaestor, Antony managed the financial affairs of state, though he returned to Caesar’s side as cavalry commander at the Battle of Alesia, in which Vercingetorix was defeated once and for all. Elevated to the rank of Legate and with two legions under him, Antony continued to serve in Gaul until 50BC while Caesar’s forces mopped up the final pockets of Gallic resistance.

Political division was growing between Caesar, who had grown rich and popular with the people on his campaigns, and his co-consul Pompey, who had remained in Rome. Antony manoeuvred Rome’s religious and political infrastructures in order to protect Caesar, but open conflict was inevitable. On 10th January 49BC, Caesar and his forces crossed the Rubicon river to march directly on Rome. Pompey and the Optimates promptly fled, and Caesar entered Rome without incident.

By the time of Caesar’s murder, Marc Antony had fought many conflicts as his second-in-command, though his popularity with the people of Rome could never match that of his friend and leader. In the aftermath, he managed to retain a measure of Caesar’s forces – and his fortune, though the rightful property of Octavian – to become a powerful member of the Second Triumvirate. It wouldn’t be long before Octavian would rise to claim his birthright however…

You typed the intro on your tablet didn't you Will. Great to get a little historical lesson whilst playing a game. I'm too simple to buy books yet still interested enough to know what happened during these times especially if I'm playing them out.

Will would you you be able to tell us whether or not these generals will be invincible like Caesar and Hannibal. It's kind of a game breaker for me as I miss that feeling of killing an influential commander who wrecked havoc or a dreaded faction leader.

Why the pattern on the shield such low resolution?

The problem with these historical scenarios is that they are balanced to play out like another run through of the main campaign rather than attempt to recreate the balance and choices of the actual historical scenario. Don't know if that's because CA is too lazy to design a good historical scenario or because CA fanboys want to conquer the world over and over and over again.

Why he is in leather? lol, leather is the useless type of material for an armor suited against spears and thrusted swords... yet, Hollywood and The Creative Assembly still tries to put it down our throat... if anything, Man like Antonius, would have no problem to acquire nice shiny bronze ornamented breastplate, as all rich Romans would use... not a (obviously soft) leather supplement... if it is so soft it bends like this, it would provide virtually no protection at all..

Holy cwap it is. It's like that pre release photo of the battle of alesia where there was a blob engagement in the bottom right corner or that one where Hannibal is holding a torch. I swear CA are trolling us.

besides, flat Thureos like this, was not used by Roman infantry at the time of Antonius... Romans used convex version.. but who cares about stuff like this, right? its just a promo picture of the game, next time, when they will work on WW1 game, they could give WW1 British infantry some M4A1 Carbines with reflex sights, or even mix them with Brown Bess muskets.

He looks very nice, but his shield pattern looks like... 1990s.

    A couple of questions

    - Will you be able to kill the other faction leaders and will your own faction leader be immortal on the battlefield and impossible to assassinate? and/or can they die of old age?
    - Is cleopatra in the game as a general for egypt?

Talking about this campaign i'm surprised that a famous character good for marketing like Cleopatra is not considered. Maybe becouse in the campaign is difficult rapresent the link beetween Antony and Cleopatra and so, Egypt will be a faction like another, so is not useful talk about her actually.

The armor looks like a bronze armor with leather external coat. Edge of the armor near near the left arm show some metal.

As for the shield, if is the blurriness what everyone is mentioning, I believe in the picture, Marc Antony is standing in a smoke filled battle field city, everything is blurry. They just focused on him and cleared the smoke around him in various degree, more around him, less going away from him.

    Just my thought.
Riddle me this, riddle me that:
    Who was my first commander?
How many of me are active right now?
And who drank a Delacourt '27 when received the commandership of me?

So CA got it right afterall and we were whining for no reason. That pixelated shield looks very accurate historically.

I'm gonna play my first campaign as Athony.

The answer is far simpler. It's artistic blurring of the shield in the foreground so that the middle ground (Anthony) stands out more to the viewer. Could be better done, it looks rushed.

4 turns per year so I don't think there'll be any immortal characters. This is basically a Late Era Grand Campaign.

No. She'll be Anthony's wife (ancillary). Egypt will be ruled by her brother.

yeah but if this game had family trees like the other games it would be easier.
