Imperator Augustus: Faction Reveal

With the territories of The Republic divided between them and the military might of Rome at their beck-and-call, the members of The Second Triumvirate are each in a position to make a bid for leadership, and rule Rome as its first – and only – emperor.


However, external forces are on the move, looking to exploit the instability of Rome and expand their own territories. Will you fight as a defender of Rome and defeat the other members of the Triumvirate? Or lead another faction on a campaign of conquest and expansion, and take advantage of the chaos as the Roman civil war rages?


Our free Imperator Augustus campaign for Total War: ROME II will include 10 playable factions which will give players a vast choice of different cultures and gameplay to pick from. This campaign comes as part of the Total War: ROME II – Emperor Edition and is available as a free, automatic update to existing owners of Total War: ROME II on the 16th of September.

It's not clear if any of the factions also work in the Grand Campaign.

Armenia will be playable in Grand Campaign.

Octavian, Anthony and Lepidus aren't possible in GC, because in their border are other factions like Carthage.

Briton factions will add in Boudicca DLC. Probably 2-3 German factions will be added to GC with IA.

The irony of playing as another faction taking advantage of the Romans "weakened" state is not lost on me. Seeing as all three Roman factions are separately more powerful then the normal campaign Rome ever becomes.

One question: Will the Roman factions have their historical legions, or will the legions' names be completely random?

Seems like Macromanni won't be playable in the GC. Seems like Armenia will be the only new playable faction released in this upgrade.

I think that this text is only about previewed 4 factions. From them only Armenia will be in GC. Another 3 are impossible.

There will be playable 10 factions, so CA will added other in this or next week. Probably will be Marcomanni and added text about them in GC.

I really want more city maps, it seems like they have a single map for each level for each culture, it's really boring.
