Thread: *SUBMOD* Positive Character Traits

  1. #1

    Default *SUBMOD* Positive Character Traits

Note This is for EB2 version 1 only

This mod is designed to make generals easier to develop and have more positive character traits. I have altered many values in the file but it needs a lot of testing. I have tried the file myself and have suffered no CTD's but it is still very much a beta and needs testing deep into a campaign to see if I have gone too far or not far enough. The main areas I have worked on are loyalty and generalship and also some admin skills.
    Its save game compatable
    Hope it works for ya

p.s back up your original export_descr_character_traits file just in case

    Download -export_descr_character_traits.rar

On a side note I really have to take my hat off to the guys or guy who created the character traits file, having edited it and seen the vastness and complexity of it I am in awe at the vast amount of work that has gone in to create it

**** if you guys have EB2 version 2.01 you need to apply the official Hotfix, The purpose of this mod is now defunct but I will leave the download active for a while longer
for those who want a compatible traits submod for 2.01 use this link http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...eta-2-released ****

dont forget to backup first and remember the traits may take quite a few turns to pan out.
I will be testing it further myself tomorrow but as much feedback as possible will help
    Cheers

    nice, very nice Thanks alot!

So if all goes well its going to be in the official release yes?
Then, as throngs of his enemies bore down upon him and one of his followers said, "They are making at thee, O King," "Who else, pray," said Antigonus, "should be their mark? But Demetrius will come to my aid." This was his hope to the last, and to the last he kept watching eagerly for his son; then a whole cloud of javelins were let fly at him and he fell.

@ Wulfburk Not sure about that as I am not a EB2 member and I think some people are happy with traits the way they are, This is just for folks like me who like more positive results for their characters. I think it may need more work yet though which is why I need feedback.
Gotta tell you though its a huge and complicated file, its took me nearly all day to edit what I've done lol

2 victories under my belt in new campaign and already have positive traits instead of negative, thanks so much!

Did you remove BadDisciplinarian? The trigger is bugged so you get the trait even if you don't match the conditions in the charactertraits file.

no but i have made it harder to activate, test it out and if it still activates i will remove it for the next version

    Sweet. Thanks Mr. Goth.

Although, I have been having fun with some of the bad traits:

I tend to retranslate "kills them with kindness" to "laughs maniacally amid the slaughter" and "bad disciplinarian" as "crucify the bastards!"

I seem to remember you also did a bit of work on EB2, Goth? At least we've added you to the credits. So don't you worry about that sig.

Of course always welcome to help some more, Goth!

Note command stars are more difficult to come by than we wanted. Loyalty possibly as well, not sure about that.
Either way consider our traits system as still being in its infancy.

Thank you, Goth. Your submod really changed my campaign. I was frustrated by the undeserved destructive traits and now they are gone. And the positive ones, truelly deserved by my King and Heir, appeared. Now the only problem is with the loyalty of the Heir. Propably because he was born a bastard to his royal father :-)

    Hi Moros
Yeah I did a little work on weather and lighting as I remember, it was a very small contribution before RL took me away though. I never even knew I had been credited but that makes me happy. I would like to help out with EB2 again its just my trouble with commitment because of RL, I would kind of come in and help in short sharp bursts and then not be seen for a while again, but if thats okay then sign me up. thanks buddy

@Klierowski I havent removed or added any traits at all, I have just played with the balance of the triggers and thresholds to give a more positive response to a characters actions and also a slightly better starting character when he comes of age. The file is so huge and complex that removing a trait from the file would be dangerous and could cause ctds so Ive opted to weaken the ones that were too harsh instead, you can still get them but its harder.
@Antigonos Doson Yeah I looked at the traits for Heir and potential successor but I left them alone for now because my eyes were tired with all the editing. I will look into that for the next version if people are still having problems with heirs. Safe to say I know where the lines are and can get to them easily.

To all you guys finding the mod useful, thanks for your compliments, like I said its still a work in progress though

    Thanks all
    Goth

What's the verdict so far? I definitely agree they were too skewed to the negative as released, but I don't want to have the opposite problem. I might try it anyway, all my FMs are going bad for no appreciable reason at present.
