I read up some more and apparently it's some kind of weird feminist enclave, aside that they understand they need men for reproduction and... sexy times. They believe women do things better than men and that their harmonic way of life is because of the solely female population. They bring in their husbands on weekends for sexy time but aside that they have to keep out or else they might start to try and alter their way of life. Boys are sent out not because they don't care about their sons, but because their sons would alter their "feminist enclave".

Just to give you some insight:
