Okay, today when I open Steam I got this message.
What does this means ? Are we allowed to sell mods now ?
I think its mostly, if not exclusively, for the items that have valve brand on it i.e Team Fortress, Counter Strike, Dota..
I believe that message was sent to anyone that have uploaded mods on Steam regardless on games. I got both on my personal account (have some Shogun 2 mods on workshop) and our R2TR account (for Rome II obviously) too. However I didn't get the message using my son's account (which have no mods uploaded).
Saw this reply on official forum.
Any modders who have uploaded mods on workshop gets this message too ?Originally Posted by Bart CA

Report it to Steam to see if it's legit?
Am I the only one whose phishing senses scream at the top of their lungs? Why would CA allow you to sell your mod when they are at pains to state that it is their property to start with?
Unless I see an ultra official note on the steam or ca website i woudn't touch this with a barge pole.
Avoid this, it's highly unlikely Steam would get the pound sign wrong £.
# is called a pound sign, in america at least. (but yeah that page still looks suspicious)
odi et amo quare id faciam fortasse requiris / nescio sed fieri sentio et excrucior
I never knew that, but Wikipedia says the same.
We call # the number sign or hash in England.
Ah, internet, more than one way to get it, dude.
Yep, this has all the hallmarks of a scam. Have you reported it to Steam?
I'm fairly sure this is only for games in which you can create an item and sell it in game. So like user created content, which the developer allows you to sell. Money gets split between game dev and the modder.
Only really applies to a small selection of games.
Rome Total War Randomiser --- Thread --- Source Code
RTWLIB --- C#Library for manipulating and parsing the Rome Total War files. WIP.
I haven't but from the official forum CA said this is not from them. However it is known that some Steam/Valve games have user trade options so this is probably intended to those games workshop only. However it seems that all (or most) accounts that have uploaded mods to Steam workshop gets those message.

Both from Steam pages.
Thanks for the links.
Looks to me like what ever you upload to the workshop may be sold and that you would get a share of the proceeds.
It obviously requires a buyer and looking at the level of entitlement that the purchase of game apparently generates I sincerely don't want to get invoved in this.
It also completely violates the EULA of any Total War version that I know of, seeing that you don't have ownership over your 'product' to start with. And unless CA says they are fine with I will not be able to support this.
If it stays on Steam I don't give a damn.
