    Default Twenty years of game-play:

Hi all, thought I'd share a quick video of the campaign map over twenty years in game; I've only taken a screenshot every four years so unfortunately not every change is shown, however if enough interest is shown in these types of videos I have no problem in creating a per-turn basis on a much longer campaign.

This was using 0.95j with Public Order Nightmare (light) and the BETA recruitment modification. I have seen many factions rise and fall whilst playing this campaign. I hope to release a full campaign video eventually once version 1.0 is released!

Please note that due to Youtube quality, I recommend playing the video in HD format for finer details.

    Cheers

    Nice, i like it
I was surprised when you took Pella
Carthage wiped out Egypt? Were you giving them money, or they managed on their own?

Very nice! Always love to see how others campaigns are going. I'm playing with the exact same mods and playing as Sparta. In my campaign Rome and Egypt have managed to wipe Carthage and Egypt even controls half of Asian minor. Really enjoying it thus far, and this proves its not just a one time fluke. Keep it up, would love to see how it goes....

This is one of the best Total War videos I've seen: so simple yet so well made. Great choice of music.

Hey really fun to watch! I restarted once I remembered I could see your armies and allied armies moving around the campaign map. Were you allies with Carthage until the end when you took Syracuse? I noticed lots of blue guys down there.

Look at the Syracuse, they didn't dominate Carthage!

Thanks mate and yes, I was allies with Carthage for a while, I made a trade agreement with them in the first few turns as in provided a massive boost for income. It also meant I could concentrate on Macedonia and Ilyria

However I always had a mind to take Syracuse for myself and conquer the whole of Magna Gracia. I may make peace with them eventually.

A couple of things I noticed in this campaign though:
    > Suebi and Lugii dominate the North
    > Carthage doesn't like to retake former cities, usually resulting in Numidia doing so

That's one thing CA should of done differently with client states/satrapies. They could of had something like the client can capture a province but instead of them owning it, the overlord does, Perhaps the client can request to keep the city it takes and you can refuse them which might strain relations, and perhaps those clients with already negative relations can take a city and flat out refuse to give it to the overlord and declare war etc etc. The current systems politics are kind of bland

Yeah it's a slight annoyance; it seems that the AI can't handle being spread over such a large area hence why Carthage seems to diminish in most campaigns, whereas Numidia is very compact and doesn't need to cross the sea unlike Carthage. Therefore once an enemy takes a Carthaginian city, Numidia is quickest to react.

I believe CA sort of knew this flaw, which is why they split Carthage into three separate factions in vanilla...

However a good point that I've seen is the constant change! As you can see from the video, several things happen in the region of around Macedonia:

    > Macedon take over Tylis & Odrysia
    > Tylis are liberated and take all the Macedonian owned lands
    > Macedon is destroyed
    > Macedon is liberated
    > Odrysia is liberated
    > Sparta destroys Macedon & Tylis, Odrysia still alive at this point

This occurs in 80 turns with very little interference from myself. Of course, maybe if I hadn't taken Pella perhaps Macedon would still be at large.

Also the Beta Recruitment mod by Dresdan seems to be doing the trick (note Syracuse and Athens did not expand, as well as the common other minor factions which do so).

    Love the video.

I played a lot of purely map based video games (EU4/CK2) and this suffice to attract me.
Maybe add a couple youtube subtitles/things to point where we should be looking at each refresh?

Would love to see more of those.

Awesome. Would love to see a bunch of people doing these even just to look for trends in empire developments.

I'll try to keep this in mind for my next campaign. Props!

This is partly the reason for doing it my friend, to spot trends. Before the Beta recruitment sub-mod, Syracuse would always take out Carthage. All my previous per year-screen shots on other campaigns show Syracuse dominating Africa, so needless to this the way this campaign has developed has been a nice surprise .

I would love to know how you have done that and with what program! I have a campaign running on very hard that I might finish soon on which I have taken heaps and heaps of screenshots of my progress!
