    Default HDD problem

So i got this bsod x000000024 and ntfs.sys from a hdd that never failed before

I have installed a video card driver and had to restart. After 1st restart computer moved slow and i restarted again. Now i get that bsod when loading windows or windows installation or recovery console. This occurs on a bit older machine with windows xp on it.

This occurs when booting from the broken hdd or a normal hdd while this one is plugged

The bios setup shows the hdd as normal but seems like it has some errors while reading this file.

    What should i do????

BIOS only verifies whether your hardware is properly configured and recognized by the system or not. If there are some crippling bad sectors on the disk then it can't recognize it unless you run a bad sector program or HDD diagnostics like CHKDSK before booting windows.

Do you have an external HDD setup? You could boot windows with the normal HDD you have and then connect the other one in USB and run HD Tune or something to check for bad sectors. If you're using AHCI drivers (which allows hotswapping) then you can open the PC and make the other HDD live by connecting the data cable live.

This ntfs thing is in the windows directory

What if i delete the windows folder and try to run it again??I deleted the partition and it booted with it switched in but if i recover the partition and boot again it will act the same as before seems that is some kind of boot error as winxp cannot access it.

What operating systems could access it??

Boot using the windows dvd and use the recovery console there to run chkdsk /r.

If you have the Windows install dvd in the drive with "Install" staring at you with a couple of options down the left side and the options don't work, use the Advanced Install for partitioning it and which partition to install Windows on. Or install it in the same partition with Windows naming your old files Windows.old.

I have three HDDs on my computer. The motherboard manual leaves a lot to be desired for what port order for SATA cables. Two weeks of conflicts to sort and three Windows installs because of it, I have had two months of relative bliss since that round of computer rebuilding.

Did you chkdsk your HDD first? Might have saved you the bother.

Yes, I did, Taiji. It came back negative, ready to run. All three drives came back negative. It was all cable conflicts.

If you have another hdd with a version of Windows on it, see if it will boot without this one plugged in.

If it does USB adapter to try to read it after you're booted may work.

I had one drive that finally went out and Windows would not finish loading because it was trying to read a "dead" drive, not C: either. I finally had to unplug it to get Windows loaded "normally". Could I read it as an external? Maybe but I have a feeling it's dead.
