Thread: EBII won't play in Full Screen?

    Default EBII won't play in Full Screen?

    I'm playing the EB2 mod on Steam and I play most of my games on the 1024x768 Resolution even though my Desktop resolution is greater than that.
    Whenever I start the mod it's window only fills the top left side of my screen obviously equal to the 1024x768 resolution that my desktop doesn't have. But I just can't get it to go onto full screen. And it isn't in windowed mode because I don't see the borders around the game itself.

    Anyone else having the same problem?

    Go to: M2TW\mods\EBII
    Open EBII.cfg in notepad(right click and edit).

    Search for these and set to false:
    windowed=false
    borderless_window=false
    Then, as throngs of his enemies bore down upon him and one of his followers said, "They are making at thee, O King," "Who else, pray," said Antigonus, "should be their mark? But Demetrius will come to my aid." This was his hope to the last, and to the last he kept watching eagerly for his son; then a whole cloud of javelins were let fly at him and he fell.

    EB2 is suggested to be run in Windows mode.

    Instead of changing it to fullscreen, keep windowed = 1 and borderless_window = 1, and instead change the battle & campaign resolutions to match your desktop resolution in medieval2.preference.cfg.

    Devs, I hope you are keeping track of just how often this 'issue' is being experienced by people. It's extremely common - and that's just the reported cases - so hopefully, there's something that can be done to clue users in out of box.

    Thanks for this, I was running in a dodgy fullscreen which was giving me a funny aspect ratio (I have a weird resolution, it's 1920x1080, it was running in 1020x768 but stretched) and crappy-looking graphics. Having applied this I've now got the stability of running in windowed mode with better graphics too.

    The issue is with Steam. I have found that whenever Steam gets updated or M2TW gets rechecked, the settings reset to default, which is 1027*768.

    I changed mine from "1" to "0" instead of "true" to "false". In case anyone shares the situation.

    Good info torongill. That's probably it. I suppose protecting medieval2.preference.cfg with read only after changing the resolutions would be necessary too.

    "1" means "true" and "0" means "false" so it should be the same.

    Hi guys!

    Help me please. Same story. But my windows 8 refuses to save changes of the cfg file, says check if any anyaplication already runs this file. Wtf? I can't press start campaign button, coz in windowed mod eb is under my toolbar. What should I do?

    Set it to read only once you've made the edits.

    It's probably already set to read only, which is why it won't save the file. You'll have to untick "ready only", save the file, and then make it read only again.

    I have got similar problem. Got new monitor and game will not run in native resolution (1920x1080) and forces 1020x768. In full screen 1020x768 stretches, in windowed mode window stay smaller than my monitor resolution. Tried to run it trough windowed switcher and without it. Edited cbii.cfg and medieval2.cfg acordingly (trying different resolutions, they change in window but window stays smaller than native resolution in full screen it stuck on 1020x768 and produces graphical glitches) when trying to change resolution from in-game menu image stays at it is but screen stretches beyond monitor (so I must lead mouse if trying to press menu buttons). I can play on lower resolution but it is not ideal. Please help.
