There is a first time for everything. Too bad Ronaldo didnt score one more, it would break Raul`s record.
Chelsea has most of votes, really? It's not they are favorites but I don't think they are THAT sure to win. Though CL seems almost impossible to predict, even just the best 4 teams.
It's like Arsenal turn up at each game and forget they even know each other.
Apoligise to Saba for that one, it must have hurt..
Haven't watched the game but that Chambers cross was sensational.
Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the Real Madrid game.

Malmoe got burned. Serves them right. Today their hardcore supporters proved to Madrid(the city) that Swedish and at home, that´s IKEA. Swedish and abroad, that's a Viking.

robbers of the yeryear award goes to tghe gunners! you!
That was funny. But i got say if there is a Robbers award that must go to Schalke...
Ah the lovely post-pub outburst
Thought Liverpool were very comfortable in the first 10-15 minutes.
They were outplayed after that and caught out very often with balls between midfield and defense though. Thought all the flak for Balotelli is OTT. Not the worst player on the park, Henderson & Gerrard aren't up to scratch (anymore.) Stirling is a player.

I still don't think arsenal will do well in the remaining matches: second spot seems very much up for grabs
My logic has been screwed up royally.
Win against Athletico, defeat against Malmo, then a another win against Juventus.
I know there is some advantage in playing home, but damn....
I thought Henderson is good player. His performance last night was abysmal.
That still remains to be seen. There is clearly something wrong with the defensive coaching that seriously needs resolving. I am not sure if it's a matter of pride for Rodgers, but he should think about bringing in a specialised defensive coach (like we had in Steve Clarke under Kenny).
And again when it comes to transfers there is something else seriously amiss. I understand the need to bring in young talent for the future and all that, but when trying to fill a Suarez shaped hole it is sometimes necessary to bring in a fully proven goalscorer. It's not like we were short on spending money after the Suarez transfer. I don't know how much of this is purely down to Rodgers, but either way it is something that needs to be addressed. Even if we didn't bring a big name, can anyone give any good reason as to why we didn't pursue Wilfred Bony, for example? And I'd still be interested to know the exact reason as to why Remy apparently failed his medical (but was fine for Chelsea).
But last season did show what Rodgers is capable of. Yes we had Suarez which was a massive boost, but you don't go on a fourteen game unbeaten run without decent managerial input, and we were doing well even in Suarez's absence. Last season our team formation (if not the actual team) was constantly switched around to meet our opponents strengths, and we consistently blew teams away in a manner which I have never seen us do, and unfortunately will probably never see again. I find it hard to call a manager crap who delivered the most entertaining Premiership season I have ever seen Liverpool play, and which nearly gave us the title against all the odds. People remember the slip ups at the end of last season, without remembering where we finished the season before (7th) and the fact that people were claiming we might get 4th if we were lucky without any chance at the title.
I think we're just going to have to accept the long and painful 'bedding in' period this season, hope we can by some miracle still clinch fourth, and then go into next season all the stronger (and hopefully with another decent striker). And remember that we are by some miracle still 5th this season, ahead of Man Utd, Everton, Tottenham and Arsenal (and I don't think anyone would claim the managers of those clubs were ''), despite having played rubbish football.

Liverpool were/are under investigation for violations against the 35m limit loss of FFP. Liverpool lost £41m in 2011/12 and £49.8m in 2012-13. Doubt there is much left of the Suarez money after Lallana, Lovren, Markovic & Balotelli arriving for ~20m each. Sold past 30/06 anyway, hence not part of this year's accounts.
Liverpools transfers for the last 4 years have been sketchy at best, haven't they? Carroll, Borini, Aspas, Downing, Henderson, Adam, Coates, Enrique, Mereiles...they attempted to replace Alonso & Mascherano with Christian Poulsen and Aquillani.
Coutinho, Sturridge & Suarez would be the only fee-involving exceptions to the rule.

You're in the same boat as us, could throw Utd in there as well. Wenger claimed there just weren't any quality defenders around (Vermaelen-Hello!), and how Lescott (a free) managed to slip under the radar is anyone's guess.
