MTWII Launcher Missing from Latest Steam Version

Your launcher cannot launch because MTWII's Launcher has been phased out in favor of a steam menu. Any work arounds?

One possible way forward is here. However, according to Gigantus, this does not give the ability to change the text files.

The alternative is to check your antivirus program virus list, restore the Launcher.exe and add it to the exception list.

Also Windows 8 updates tend to delete various exe files that are used to launch M2TW, because they consider such files a security threat. In which case you can restore to an earlier date but it will keep happening every so often (the Launcher will be deleted) with new security updates. Real life can be annoying sometimes.
