    Default Features of Roma Acta est Fabula

    Starting in 438AD the Vandals have settled in Africa fighting a war over that continent with the Romans. The Hunni are getting restless on the north side of the river Danube, Suebians and the Visigoths are eyeing the lands that the Romans left. The Burgundians and the Mauri are at peace right now, but maybe waiting for an opportunity. And Rome... it's borders crumbling down, lost so many lands to the Bagaudae... Roma Acta est Fabula, Rome the play is over.... or is it not.

    Features:
    Historical map with accurate province names (where possible) and proper city names
    7 playable factions:
    Imperium Romanum Occidentalis
    Regnum Burgundiae
    Regnum Vandalorum
    Regnum Visigithorum
    Regnum Suevorum
    Regnum Maurorum et Tomanorum
    Hunni

    Game is redesigned around what is possible to squeeze out the AI. Especially proper historical big field battles of 5th century era: Skirmishers in front followed by infantry followed by archer and diverse cavalry either to harass the enemy or charge into enemy lines.

    Since I almost redone all files regarding to AI behaviour I have made many game-changing settings I altered to create a different experience of total war.
    This mod focus on the last days of the West Roman Empire. It has it's base on the mod Invasio Barbarorum II Vandalorum, though it has become a stand alone mod because almost everything (beside unit models and in-game artwork) has been redone.

    Current version 0.9B Is full playable, though without some extra features (including better siege defense mechanics), I am still working on.

    complete overhaul of unit stats
    complete overhaul of building stats
    33 new provinces
    4 turns/ year
    extended timeline to 506
    new looks
    new loading screens
    removed princesses
    removed permanent forts
    removed rebelling characters
    removed different religions (now state religion only)
    reworked ancillaries
    new traits (adapted from vanilla because of too much RTW interference)
    new money script
    adjusted difficulty levels

    Version 0.9B
    new diversified campaign AI
    new improved battle AI (much more tactical!)
    re-balanced factions
    reintroduced sprites (less heavy graphics for laptop users and low end computers)

    Game recommendation :

    The field battle AI is tested and designed on Normal size units, small size works as good, though Large and Huge size is not recommended because it causes serious issues with walls. Simply because AI unit can only act and react when on 1 surface, otherwise it will try to unite first before it starts acting.

    Also in field battles it can cause issue like units entering melee fight too early because of units falling behind. Large and huge armies maybe fun to see, but it hinders the AI and so a lot of tactical AI behaviour is not showing with those sizes.

    This mod is not compatible with reallybadAI mod.

    What's the Campus Volgadensis? 438 AD is in the middle of the Gothic War for Aetius, same year he defeated them at the Battle of Mons Colubrarius.

    Campus Volgadensis was a battle faught between Clovis and his Burgundian allies against the Visigoths in circa 503 AD. Its all the way out of the mod time frame.

    Clearly it's not : Timeline 438-506 (just before the battle by Campus Vogladensis) , it is complete overhaul modso also extended time frame . And yes i used Vandalorum map but has 33 extra provinces.

    Thank you for the support! Hopefully I can send you a preview this week. I just have to work my way around 2 annoying (hardcoded) issues that came up during beta testing and I think needs to be resolved before going public.

    In the mod Tolosa is a Roman city, wasn't it in 438 a Visigoths' capitol or at least major city?

    There are some in-accurate things but game-play and balance is more important than hyper accurate history facts. Just imagine that Attila had a nosebleed in 438 what then? You alter history anyway when you start turn 1.

    Another update of progress. Since I received some great unexpected help on some model work, it will be implemented as well in 1.0. At this moment we are discussing some issues and solutions. It was not initially part of 1.0, more a nice to have issue, but since I can implement it, I will do that, because it sure is a bonus.

    The siege AI project is 100% finished and the other one at 90% but still needs to be tested and reviewed.

    Thanks for waiting, deadline within 4 weeks (I am sorry about that)
