    Default Hotfix 04/08/2014

    Morning/Evening all,

A new hotfix has been issued to address the latency problems that players were experiencing in the multiplayer lobby.

The update should be downloaded automatically from Steam (roughly 9Mb) and will update ROME to build 344140
You can check this by doing a right click on ROME from the Steam Game Library > Properties > Local Files.

Let me know if you still experience latency in the multiplayer lobby after having downloaded this patch.

    Nico

Does this also solve some of the remaining SP issues? But anyway, thanks CA for caring about the problems!

Yeah, they should break more things of a 10 year working game so we can thank them more when they fix it! And who knows if they're going to fix all the things they broke..
Disclaimer: the post above is way way prealpha, the final version will be way better than this.

I so hope that they at least put everything back the way it was or actually improve on a few things as Rome 1 is still my favourite TW game and when I get fed up of Rome 2 I always go back to it.

I'm having problems now after this hotfix as the game wont start this is my problem:

I have a disk version of RTW and BI. I activated them on steam so I could take advantage of the multiplayer being reactivated and I'm sure many of you are already aware that the patches to remove gamespy and turn online into steam has caused many bugs, issues and lag to the game which I do hope that someone at CA will fix it.

Anyway this morning a new update was released for it, I was hoping that this would fix some of the worst problems but neither RTW or BI even starts, I click play in steam, the round loading icon next to the mouse on windows 8 appears for a few seconds and then nothing happens. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have also verified the cache and the content build ID checks out.

    Any ideas CA?

Further issues are under investigations and teams are working on fixes.
Do not hesitate to make a list of problems you have experienced in SP and provide accurate descriptions of each of them. I'll forward the details to the relevant teams.

    Hi JRR,

    Sorry to hear about this.
Could you please confirm your current ROME 1 build number?
You can check this by doing a right click on ROME > Properties > Local Files

    Thanks

Well, since I was actually expecting CA to just wait out the issue and call it a day I am positively suprised about that, yes.

Did this hotfix do something to the AI? Because the AI, I am sorry to say, is now horrendous, with odd behaviour which was simply not there before.

And why did I have to agree to the license agreement after the latest patch? Refusing the agreement meant I was not allowed to play the game I already owned, and it seems the patch installed without my approval, and requiring my approval only after the fact. Isn't that illegal?
