    Default New Julii Campaign

    Spring 280BC
The leader Flavius Julius takes to the leadership of the Jullii. From his seat at his capital city Roma, he dictates a great speech to his people regarding suffering and pride, hope and prosperity and wealth and security. In the speech he tells his people that they should follow him for two years rebuilding our beloved Kingdom and he shall reward the people with trade, slaves, glory & faith.
The people celebrate as not for hundreds of years as a charismatic leader moved his people into such frenzy of patriotic work.
With in 3 months paved roads have been built between the three founding cities of the Empire, as ordered in planned rebuild of the Kingdom. Flavius’ own son Quintus has been despatched with a small military force to attack and take Ariminum a small town on the Eastern shore.
Early summer and the forces of Quintus attack Ariminum just as the rebuilding of the markets, ports, mines and farms start in the Cities. There is rejoicing as a surprise attack against the rebels at Ariminum by Quintus brings slaves totalling nearly 2100 to bolster the workers in the cities and to cement the promises of his father.
Autumn see the victorious armies of Quintus once replenished moving towards Genua on the west coast. Eager from his conquests he moves quickly picking up reinforcements on the way. With the new workers, the cities quickly finish the market, ports, farms and mines in record time, and start work in earnest on the shines and sewers. For now is the right time to please the Gods’ will and create great temples to rival the buildings of old.
Rebels attack Quintus on way to Genua, it’s just a faint to delay the attack and siege at Genua that starts in the winter of 280BC.

Winter as seen the record crops in the autumn and the people bellies are full and their hearts are happy at their Nation pride. Building of temples in the kingdom start and Flavius chooses Roma to host his forum and Academy for his command. No sooner than building had started a new member of the family as the most antipated wedding of Fadia and Galerius Marcellus. For a whole week the country celebrate the first royal wedding and the diplomat Sexus Antio pulls off a surprise coop when his Macedonia counterpart asks for a ceasefire for the year old war and he persuades for trade right between the 2 great counties.
The Northern barbarians of Gaul fail to understand the importance of trade and would be happy to continue the war with our beloved county; our time will come to put the pagans to our swords!

    Spring 279BC
The siege of Genua starts when the village is surrounded by the glorious armies of Quintus Julius. The armies are inching for battle and as soon as the machines of war are built, we will burn the rebel’s stronghold to the ground.
The great temples of Jupiter and Ceres are completed in the cities; the command structure of the armies is strengthened by the recruitment of a general and the immediate despatch to the front lines in Genua.
Summer sees the fall of Genua and 500 rebels marched in slavery. The burning down of the Pagan shire to Esus is witnessed by a victorious Quintus; you can see the passion and the power in his eyes. The making of a great leader one day I think.
The army is sent back to replenish it forces while the slaves finish rebuilding a shire to Jupiter and roads to Arretium.
Bumper crops follow into autumn but the soothsayers of Roma forecast a bitter winter, Flavius commands that all available food stores to be collected into the cites to provide for the winter months.

The armies return to stations before the snows of winter stop most movements only the bravest trader can be seen travelling allow our roads from town to town. Small forces of rebels raiding in the southern province of Capua are forced into exile by a small unit of men from the stationed garrison. Don’t think we have seen the last of them.

spot on all working now- next 2 years on the way, battles seem a problem at the moment so will keep trying for good screen shots

    278BC
Gaul’s seen parading north of Genua and Arretium. Small force despatched to deal with, no swords crossed or shields splintered as the pagans more north to the shelter of the mountains. The re-garrison of the Northern provinces continues into the summer as Sextus Antio has a chance meeting with Balshillek of the Carthage and strikes a bargain of peace and trade. Cites rejoice at the extra income coming into the markets and ports.
Quintus arrives at the gates of Cannae, the siege starts, starving the rebels out for a battle on the plains is the plan as open warfare suits the young tribune.

The leaves turn brown as the siege continues south, while north Gaul raiders move west of Genua in an attempt to stop trade, 3 units of Hastati chase them back over the border. When will they learn of Roma’s might!!

Winter hits the towns hard in the provinces, food stores grow short and a quick release on levees for a few months is ordered by Flavius. Rebels and Gaul’s don’t travel across our borders this winter as if to give our men in the front line a holiday. Just a lonely diplomat braves the weather fro Greece baring gifts of a ceasefire. Galerius Marcellus returns the favour with trade rights. Castor of Elis leaves content. The held armies within Cannae fail to attempt to escape or attack; maybe they fear the cold or the sharp steel of our swords.

    277BC
Spring sees the young son of Quintus; Amulius come of age and leave Roma in search of battle with his father in Cannae. The men rejoice of such leadership and look forward to the battles in the months ahead. Other rebels noticed south of Cannae, close to a city called Tarentum move north then back away from small force from Cannae siege units. Quintus plans will move south but first we need slaves.

On a raining summers morning the rebel army at Cannae make a break for freedom. Rain pampers any real warfare on the grass fields outside the city.

But Roma prevails, another city taken. 2221 slaves forced to build road and tear down shrine and rebuild to Jupiter. Then off to the other provinces.

Glorious news the beginning of the expansion program has hit Roma with the start of the Pro-Consuls Palace and a Governor’s Palace in Capua

With a few reinforcements, a sizeable force leaves Cannae south for fame and fortune under Amulius. The army looking for a small rebel force to the west and a city for plunder to the south.

Amulius ordered from his father to take Tarentum before the winter sets in and attacks in force against a Captain Phereclus.

The armies of Amulius pour to outskirts of the city only to be welcome a single unit in its defence

Reinforcements for the rebels fail to impress roman military might as they flatten all resistance on the way to the city centre to meet the survivors.

Roman leadership wipes the city clean of all pagan vermin. 1698 souls begin their life of slavery by rebuilding roads and a shire to the gods.
Valerius Petillius despatch from Roma to Tarentum to take control as Amulius has plans to the west.

    276BC

Amulius leaves Tarentum to attack and siege Croton to the south west.
Roman military build up continues in the north ready for invasion in to the Gaul’s homeland.

Augustus Aemilius leaves Roma and collects troops from Arretium and Genua for invasion. Ambush inside border delays siege of Mediolanium.

Reinforcements at the command of Lucius Julius and the regrouping of the northern armies split with unit’s at the siege of Mediolanium and smaller force holding a flanking position east of the city.

Start of winter sees a surprise attack from the east.

Roman command retreats the troops south and west above Genua, while our soliders in the east attack Patavium while the armies of Gaul defend Mediolanium.

first time on this mod and a little green on this one.
playing M/M wishing it was H/H
have simplied the game a little, have not touched any of your settings at all. just bent the rules a little int he first 2 years used extra money and speed building on a few buildings ( not military ) - roads, temples and ports to build up trade. when ever i take a town/ city the slaves will build roads and replace the shines or temples with romand ones straight away.
a little cheat on the building side and a little money until trade has rocketed a little
