My German may be very off, and I don't know how to get umlauts. As a European I stereotypically think Beethoven should be the one to provide the music, especially considering his ideals that led him to use such texts in his work. Also Beethoven's 9th symphony is one of my favorite pieces of music - though obviously I would only recommend the last of the 4 movements, I don't think people want to sit for half an hour of instrumental music before singing.

I'd go for one of Furtwengler's performances of the 9th myself, possibly even the famous one at Bayreuth.

Not just 'large': the majority of the world's population are of East or South Asian appearance and culture. Caucasians number barely 1/7th of the world's population if you exclude Muslims and Mestizos. The most powerful man in the world is black.
