Regarding the new update on Steam - IMPORTANT!

For those that use STEAM, there was a big update and I mean (BIG!), and what it did, was the following:
1) It was designed for multiplayer games since the demise of Gamespy
2) It converted Medieval 2 TW: Kingdoms into a DLC so it is no longer an expansion. Plus it put the entire Medieval 2 Total War (including Kingdoms in one massive file) So, what does this mean you might ask?

It means that the executive.bat needs to be changed. Mods used to run on kingdoms.exe in the past but that was when Kingdoms was an expansion, and as such had a functioning .exe. Since Kingdoms is a DLC the exe doesn't function at all. So you need to edit the executive.exe file.

It simply needs to read as follows

start medieval2.exe @mods\IB2_Britanniae\configuration.cfg (don't put it in italics, that was for emphasis)

Don't use the steam launcher! It won't show up there. Just like it has in the past it works simply by the shortcut icon and the executive.exe file.
