Thread: Steam skipping medieval launcher

    Default Steam skipping medieval launcher

I never had a problem before, i had done nothing to manipulate the files or game settings. I had been playing for months and months without a single issue(yes my launcher wouldnt close, but nothing task manager couldnt fix)

When i launch the game from steam, it skips the launcher and goes straight to the game. I have since installed the "new" modded launcher, but to no avail.. i have deleted all files and reinstalled, but to no avail..
I can launch the launcher manually if i select the exe, so it is working fine.
I have SS installed, but ive used it from week 1 without any problems.

I want steam to log my hours, and for screenshots..as minor an annoyance that is, it really bothers me. please help.

I assume the game is the Steam version.

When was the last time scanned with a good antivirus or malware program?

on your steam library start up M2TW kingdoms, then you get the launcher and can choose all of the same options as before. Also the Launcher runs in the background still.

The 1.2 patch replaced medieval2.exe with launcher.exe in the icon's Target and Steam is supposed to be using launcher.exe for its DRM.
Now which is showing in Task Manager when you launch the game?

There was a recent patch to steam where it points to the medieval2.exe now. Kingdoms goes to the launcher though, and you can still play regular M2TW via the kingdoms launcher.

I still have the old dvd version so he may need your help more than mine.
If Steam did this favor, can the Kingdoms campaigns now be launched without the launcher all together like the dvd version?

If you have shortcuts to proper bat files or executables you can run a mod/kingdoms directly even without steam. However if you want to run kingdoms through steam you have to select it in your steam library, or whatever steam shortcut there is. You go through the launcher, this way it will count to your hours on steam, but other than that it doesn't really matter.

If the mod you are trying to run doesn't show up in the launcher you have to add it manually via this guide http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...Launcher-guide!!
