Progression rules
Group Stage
Each person in each group will play the other members of their group, meaning you will play two matches. The player that wins the most matches will progress. In the event that all three players win 1 match each, re-matches will occur until 1 player has won both of his matches. It is not possible in a 3 man group for more than 1 player to win 2 matches.
Elimination Stage
Semi-Final 1: Winner Group A vs Winner Group B
Semi-Final 2: Winner Group C vs Winner Group D
Final: Winner Semi-Final 1 vs Winner Semi-final 2
Rewards
+10 rep if you complete both your Group Stage matches with a clean record
+5 rep if you play your Semi-Final
+5 rep if you play the Final
Winner of the Final receives a medal
This means everyone that plays their matches will get a small reward for participation in good faith, the Finalists will get an additional small reward, and the champion gets the coveted medal.
Players can start organising their matches as of now. As mentioned, please let me know if someone is proving difficult or malicious and they can be disqualified automatically.
Rules
1. Players are obliged to play each other. If one player is being unduly difficult regarding arranging a time to play, the other player may submit this to Poach. If it is found the player is being difficult, he may be disqualified.
2. There will be no timer for games, but players who are playing very slowly may be challenged. As with rule 1, disputes may be submitted to Poach and a decision on whether to disqualify the player acting slowly may be made.
3. If a player disconnects during the game, his opponent may automatically win, but may offer a re-match if he pleases.
These are a basic set of rules to stop people:
1. Refusing to play.
2. Taking so long to make moves that their opponent quits in frustration.
3. Closes the game and pretends to have disconnected if they think they're losing.
Above all, this will be the guide: If you think your opponent is trying to cheat or be malicious, report him. If I think so too, I'll disqualify him. People who show up and play their Chess fairly and honestly will always be welcome and there'll be no timers or pressure to force people to play at a certain speed as long as they're playing fair.
