Maybe this old topic especialy for someone who modding total war game way from rome, most modder have they own formula which is never be released to the public. We always hear rebalance this and rebalance that, the question is ? how the hell he found the magic number ??? Did we modder make up or creating unit stats based on imagination ? what about balance ??? How the hell we imagine every stats for every unit in the game ??
Its every people dream to play balanced stats ? and what is mean balanced ??? Its depend on yourself since many people will have different opinion about this.I play a lot of mod of shogun 2, but never once i see the source table for units stats, i always ask myself the question " How the hell this xyz modder created this xxx unit stats ?? What formula he used ?? He said its balanced this way, but i see this is pure , i cant see the logic behind this stats, or any explanation whatsoever about why it must use 13 for unit xxx melee att ??? Anyone ????
Still there is merit from that, i decided to break this evil circle and starting my own reseach about how to determine units stats as balanced as it can,using math, table and have its own Equation which can be explained by logic or at least have theory that can be defended by the modder itself .

We need to classify unit into different category.

We need to make the mother table, or the base table if your prefer to say it.This base table will be used as the main body for every unit class base stats.
Its realy important to be very wise when deciding what number your will be input. You can see some progress from lower class like ashigaru to higher class like Elite. Remember balaced stats = better gameplay. You can use your creativity here.
Base Table
STEP 3
We need created support table.Since every units use different weapon, from gun to spear. Its also bring variety and life to the unit itself since there is different like unit morale that use sword and spear. Example

Charge Support Table
This is where our study, reseach put into math equation.For Example
Melee Defense Theory, that battle should be longer by raising the melee defense so generaly in huge battle we will be able to use formation since unit will break slower with greater defense, that i believe should be at least twice the amount of unit Melee ATT,so the formula is :
Melee Defense = (2 x Melee ATT) + (Bonus Melee Def)
Charge Bonus Theory, that longer weapon will have greater charge effect then shorter weapon, that i believe spear will be the greatest charge weapon of all then naginata since spear more light thus increased its running speed,so charging with spear is more deadly thanks for its penetration.The formula is :
Charge (unit non horse) :
Sword = (1 x Melee ATT) + (Bonus Charge)
Nodachi = (1,5 x Melee ATT) + (Bonus Charge)
Tetsubo = (2 x Melee ATT) + (Bonus Charge)
Naginata = (1,5 x Melee ATT) + (Bonus Charge)
Spear = (2 x Melee ATT) + (Bonus Charge)
Charge (horse) :
Sword = (2 x Melee ATT) + (Bonus Charge)
Naginata = (2,5 x Melee ATT) + (Bonus Charge)
Spear = (3 x Melee ATT) + (Bonus Charge)
This will benefit everyone from modder view, its input will be more focus, instead confuse comment from people who play with his mod like " You should increase xxx unit charge, i think its more better !!!" At least we can expect some good input comment like "You should try increase Sword charge by 1,5 x instead of 1,0 x " Comment like this will help modder improve his mod since they provided with accurate data instead confusing word like "increase more"
From player view who use his mod, will have the insight about how the charge system work, also who know maybe they have more better equation and have solid theory about how should the sword, or naginata should charge, maybe he have one in home so at least he can touch and feel it.Who knows ? At least by providing solid data, its give the mod itself room for improvement thanks to the positive input.

You may notice at melee att and charge there another bonus that cav bonus, so the theory behind cavalry is :
Melee ATT = Base class units + Bonus eguip he use + Bonus Riding with Cav

My Tutorial here is not a gospel that you must follow down per letter, there is always room for improvement because i realize nothing is perfect.The main point i write this tutorial first, so any modder in the future will at least post their formula especialy regarding unit stats modifying.Imagine how many modder in tw center yet not a single one Dedicated units stats formula being posted, just imagine if there is one larger pool for units stats formula, where every modder who make reseach about weapon example bullet velocity, being posted into one single well documented, where every people can access its knowledge. Instead of scatter pience of information lies in dusty thread, that have being forgotten.
