It's not a hidden forum, anyone can view it, guess I didn't see any reason it needs to be. Posting was supposed to be restricted to the people who applied to the usergroup and were approved by myself or MD, as well as a couple groups by default (Curator, Admins obviously). I definitely unchecked permissions for the Citizen usergroups, but I guess I missed a couple random groups that had access here since we never got around to the permission tiering. For example, developers of Authentic Ancient World had access here because, you know, why wouldn't they? Man I really wish I had a week to just clean all that stuff up like we once intended but I don't right now.

Pretty sure that access should be limited to the Taggers Anonymous group and a few other select groups now, rather than how it was previously. If I missed something well, we'll find out by way of someone not in the group posting!

For m_1512 and any other Citizens that have posted here, just apply to the group to regain posting access. Shank was added to the list of usergroup leaders so that he can also approve applicants.

I was about to start posting the tag proposal threads for the TW side of the board, but I'm just going to wait until the forums have been rearranged due to the Modding Community proposal, plus we haven't really got started here so there is no rush (can we start? ).

So, where are we at? I still think before proposing tags, we should agree upon a system, a syntax in order to have the framework ready. We've already seen a couple of propositions. Shank, if you have the time, could be so kind as to open a thread summarizing them up in the OP in order that we can focus on discussing them and agreeing on one please? The agreed upon syntax could then be edited in the OP of the Tagging policy thread.

I think that when that is done, we can take the next step and propose tags.

In case that's not clear, I'm posting here without permissions. But I can't edit my own post, so I'm posting again, just to let you know for sure.

The Tribune group has been fixed and shouldn't have direct access. Have to love vB permissions, the group was showing as an empty bubble which is supposed to mean "no permissions", but apparently it was given the ability to post in the forum... but not to view it, and view access evidently covers that bubble. Because, you know, there are lots of practical situations where you'd want someone to be able to post... but not see the forum to be able to.

Oh granularity that we don't even really use.

Just posting this here before I forget, I was meant to respond but it slipped my mind.

No, they can only be linked with discussions not forums and by pressing a specific tag type it simply displays the list of threads having the common tag.

Can you give me a quick walkthrough on what's being done and has done so far? I haven't kept track of it.

And tags should be added in a way that is user and SEO friendly as well. And they need to be added by keeping two things in mind:
1) Guest\Visitor orientated tags.
2) Membership orientated tags.

1) This will be your set of tags in articles which generally drag traffic on TWC. So list of mods and articles in mod workshop. Here you need to aim them in 2 sets, one the general category and other the long tail end category which is specific. For eg: Lets say member xyz writes a tutorial on "How to rig a 3D model in 3Dsmax".

So here one needs to add a general category tag "Tutorial" or make it platform specific like "[TWR2] Tutorial" or "[Rome II] Tutorial" and then the specific content "3D modelling" "3DsMax".

So all of this info then can be compiled & maintained in an index easily once the tag is added and web crawlers will also take these keywords in mind which will help boost the positioning of these specific pages whenever someone is trying to search a modding related tutorial.

Go with this first and then you guys can concentrate on the (2) part which is mainly about articles which TWC regular membership might be interested to read like "Opifex" = List of threads where TWC members were awarded opifexes via curia vote (low priority).
