About Baghdad and Kirkuk, the first will be defended by the shia militias and peshmerga won't let at all Kirkuk to fall in ISIS hands, the problem is Samarra with the shia shrines but the population is Sunni, if ISIS reach the city probably they will blow up those shrines opening the doors of a sectarian conflict.

The fact the the Islamist version of the Khymer Rouge is doing so well is deeply worrying.
If I had to choose between betraying my friends and betraying my country, I hope I would have the guts to betray my country.

Could Turkey join in?Erdogan seems to have internal issues, perhaps an external distraction is what he needs.

Well considering post 2004 deaths are probably already higher than pre 2004...

"at least 300 inmates had been freed from the city's prisons, many of them serving sentences under terrorism charges" (Tikrit)
So 1400 in mosul and 300 here = 1700 who will probably join the rank of the terrorists. Probably they have enough weapons...

Rumoured that ISIS insurgents went door to door reassuring inhabitants that they have no wish to inconvenience them, and in fact, may be withdrawing to prevent civilian casualties once the Shias get their act together and send in armed forces.

It seems that ISIS militants stormed the Turkish consulate at Musul and take hostage 40+ people here including consul. Turkey is on high alert, she called a Nato meeting.

Erdogan gave a very strong statement concerning the well being of the Turkish diplomatic personal in Mosul. It suggests he is prepared to take some sort of military action if they were harmed.

Did that too many times before. Actually the only friend Kurds have (around their neighbors) is Turkey.

Bottom line: Dont invade Muslim countries because they fight in the name of Islam and they get radicalized.

Usually killing lots of other Muslims so it actually works better than expected...

The same with caricatures of Mohammed. Result: dozens of dead Muslims and no Westerner had any active part in it.

It's pretty cynical if it weren't reality.
"Sebaceans once had a god called Djancaz-Bru. Six worlds prayed to her. They built her temples, conquered planets. And yet one day she rose up and destroyed all six worlds. And when the last warrior was dying, he said, 'We gave you everything, why did you destroy us?' And she looked down upon him and she whispered, 'Because I can.' "

Do the US really expected that Iraq could live in peace after they leave it?As in many previous conflicts they know how to start it but not how yo end,and with the middle east out of control the US are talking in send weapons to Syrian insurgents, the democratic ones of course. They lost all the sense of decency, with Iraq totally out of control ,or almost, the US have to reinforce the government, they may have to send back to Iraq thousands of soldiers.
Ps:For what I've hear dozens of formers republican guards and Sadam officers are with the insurgents, they use hidden weapons. Its a total war.

No. The American people were tired of being in the middle of a civil war in an Arab country.

Do they were tired of foreign interventions? What about close half of overseas bases, send the boys home, and stop pretending that US rule the world. Is that lately Obama is failing a lot. This second mandate is to forget.

Obama didn't start the war in Iraq. So why should we hold him accountable for the regime collpasing when it was a bad idea in the first place?
