What what! Good lord that's amazing! When this really works... Oh god, I can't imagine RSII without most limits...

Wow!...if this goes down this will add a huge shot in the arm to RS2. 60 factions? Good god man! every known greek city state can be playable.

Seriously, I wouldn't care about the endless turn times

    This is amazing news.
I wonder what this means for the future of RS2.
Even though so many limits can be altered there will still be A LOT of work required to actually accomplish anything.

this means more slots for the units as well?

Yes. Maximum units are 500, but they are planning that it's possible to have even more slots for units in the EDU. What did CA say with the most units ever in a TW game? Well well... Let's see if they can create more...

Arent a lot of units in Rome 2 just variations with different color patterns?

Anyway, i am more interested in fixing certain bugs that RTW has(siege tower bug, ALX camera bug, memory leaks or CTDs) and improving CAI/Diplomacy.
More units and factions would be nice but it would take a lot of time and i am actually concerned about certain things.

Adding more regions could turn the game into a siegefest, more factions could increase end turn times, etc.

I hope modders dont just go for the limit, they need to have a clear working idea.

Siegefest? It could mean a larger map, with more terrain on it, thats what I see.

Also more city variants, like villages and small towns.

More factions means less rebels, and more units: more awesomeness!

Depends on how large the map could be made, to warrant such a huge number of settlements.

Still, this is amazing news. +rep to you SD for bringing it to our/my attention.

Or maybe they could break the current map into further regions?

Nah, that'd be way too compact. The cities are nicely spaced as is, many more would be a siege fest. :/

Seems dvk needs to recruit more, lest he drowns under all of these new advancements.

Sieges are over rated. Place 2 spies inside a city if you don't want so many sieges

A way to get around sieges(IF regions are increased) is to have the more insignificant cities/towns trigger a field battle instead with the town somewhere in the background.
I am not sure if this is possible but it would help and even be more historically accurate perhaps.

We'll have DVK's awesome new settlements only in the most important cities and the smaller towns will be more useful on the campaign map.

This could become a management nightmare. 1000 settlements. 1000 settlements.

me, takes long enough to go through 50, let alone half a 1000.

We wont see mods with 1000 cities though. Its just the raised limit but mods will likely not reach it.
I can definitely see some big mods use 300-400 regions though.
