The Coronation of Balthasar V, Emperor of Terra

The news of an elected successor for the late Louis VII was a reassurance to the people of Terra and the Empire. Such a quick election was a good sign to many, while a bad sign to others. Nonetheless, an Emperor was to be crowned today. Unlike the coronation of Louis VII, this day was brighter and cool, a temperate day on Terra. The main cathedral where many saw the coronation of Louis VII and every other previous emperor was adorned with the colors of the Empire and of House Ignatius.


Majority of the Ignatius family was present such as the Emperor's children, Johannes, Severina and Maximilian followed by his younger brother Alexander and his uncle Joseph. All of them wearing their best clothes for this occasion. It had been generations since one of their house was to sit upon the Imperial throne.

The procession was a simple one; the would-be Emperor being escorted by the Royal Guard, his family and those of the Electors of the Grand Assembly. The Phoenix Guard took up additional security roles and kept an eye out while the Royal Guard did their traditional duty. Once inside, Balthasar took his place upon the throne, waiting for the ceremony to commence.

Lord Mizar and his family joined the ceremony - both his grand-daughters are present as well to watch the coronation excited.

Lord Arparys wore a magnificent attire, made of leather and silk, in blue and black, with a crimson cloak down to the feet, lined with fur, a stylized brooch in the shape of a nightingale surrounded by thunders fastened it. The hair combed backwards, sharp, ice blue eyes. But Armand was even more magnificent, dressing silken robes, in crimson and yellow, with a touch of black. With an imposing height, one of the highest men in the cathedral, towered above his father and mother, his hair shone like molten gold; such magnificence was fitting since he would soon marry the Emperor's daughter, Lady Severina, such part of the Imperial Family, by blood and marriage (even if such an attire would pale in comparison to Old Lord's ones, centuries old). Lady Alice was as beautiful as an old sculpture, her chiseled features and marble skin, combined with a radiant fair hair.

Lord Arparys smiled, pleased. Lord Ignatius had been elected, now crowned. A joyous day, indeed.

Lord Aetius Altair and his family members were their at the coronation to celebrate the crowning of their kin. It was a good day for House Altair as they had ensured that a friendly face sat upon the empire's throne and that the influence of House Altair had remained undiminished. It was a good day for House Altair and it reflected on their joyous mood.

Viggo was present alongside his wife and his many children. He was dressed discreetly yet stylishly, as always
The Prince was not as excited as the other noblemen present. It is true that he was promised a position of Lord Master of the Apparatus, but he did not trust Ignatius nor the Lord-Comissar and the other Electors from the Slaver systems, who were most likely going to be participants of the Council

"At least it is not raining this time.." Lady Medici quietly remarks, to which her uncle nods in response as the two walk in the procession towards the back of it, and upon entering the Cathedral, sit near the other electors' families as they wait for the ceremony to begin.

Aquilarch Orion Nomond and his family had joined the Imperial procession: his uncle Charles and father Louis, his wife Valere and his son Gustave following behind him. He was dressed in a ceremonial Terra Novian Guard Uniform with a few adjustments: high black leather riding boots, red trousers with golden lining, a black dolman with gold braid on the breast, gold epaulettes and gold Austrian knots on the sleeves and a black small shako with a gold eagle badge at the front and a red feather plume. At his side hung a gilded ceremonial sabre. His yellow beard was recently trimmed, his golden hair short and his green eyes shined like emeralds in the sunlight.

This was a joyous day for the Nomonds. The passing of Louis had been expected for two decades, but his short reign had ensured a breather for the Core Worlds to organize themselves and put a strong and experienced man on the throne. Balthasar had been a perfect choice for emperor, and soon Nomond and Ignatius would join their families together in blood. Gustave and a Ignatius daughter, the match was perfect. Although his uncle Charles had been responsible for most of these arrangements, Orion had decided that he would not be a worse lord than his uncle. He would bring the Nomond Dynasty to new heights. For now though, he walked along with the other lords of the procession, smiling.

The Aquilarch noticed Lord Arparys smiling as well not too far away, and felt like talking with the lord. So he went up and walked beside Lord Arparys.

"Good day, my Lord Arparys! I'm Aquilarch Orion, you may know my uncle Charles Nomond. This weather must surely witness of a blessing from the heavens for the coronation. A better man couldn't take the throne today, am I wrong?"

Lord Commissar Gaunt attended with his on Isaac, for some reason his brother Ricardus hadn't wanted to come.

The Slaver Lord took his place in the Cathedral, looking out the edge of his eyes for the Zealots who would likely desecrate this ground.

"Good day indeed, Aquilarch Nomond, it is a truly joyous occasion, Lord Ignatius, well now Emperor Balthasar, was the finest choice"

He grabs his arm, kindly

"Soon my son (points the tall young man) will marry Princess Severina Ignatius, daughter of his Imperial Majesty. I hope your Lordship will grace us with your presence in such an event"

Lord Sovereign Ramses II of Thrax arrived with his wife, the Lady Amedda. He had already attended two previous coronations, and now he was at a third. Emperors seemed to be dropping like flies as of late....

He looked around the Cathedral. So fancy with it's art, and they had the nerve to call us zealots. He took his seat away from most of the other Lords, especially Slavers and the Old Guard, and promptly waited for the ceremony to begin.

After the imperial procession had made their way into the Cathedral and the rest of the gathered nobility and other notables were beginning to enter the Cathedral, the delegation from the Osmo System, consisting of Lady Akane and her two siblings, the vassal lords of the system, and several retainers begin to make their way along with the crowd into the Cathedral, finding seats in a section primarily occupied by their fellow Technocrats. Most of the party are wearing military-styled ceremonial uniforms, with a few wearing more traditional styled suits or dresses pending on their gender. Lady Akane herself is wearing a black and crimson officer's uniform with silver tassels, a black overcoat and hat, with a crimson phoenix and silver sun badge on the hat. Her brother wears the ceremonial uniform of Heike Academy, while her sister wears a silver and red dress. Most of the party converse amongst themselves, while Akane observes the crowd in between conversations as the party wait for the ceremony to begin.

Berenguer looked as the newly appointed Aquilarch approached him, he received him with a warm and sincere smile, Arparys was extremely good humored that day.

"Good day indeed, Aquilarch Nomond, it is a truly joyous occasion, Lord Ignatius, well now Emperor Balthasar, was the finest choice"

Orion smiles back at Lord Arparys.

"It would be my honor to be invited to such a fantastic event. I will have to give an offer of equal worth then. My son Gustave, the blond boy over there with my uncle, will one day marry the granddaughter of Emperor Balthasar's uncle. The wedding won't be in a couple of years, but I hope that House Arparys will grace us with their presence."

The High Lord Oenamaus, Patriarch of the House Gamora, Warden of Delpha, Keeper of the Slaves, Guardian of the Cluster, Etc., Etc. arrived at the Citadel alongside his twin brother Aenomaus. For twins the two couldn't be more different, Oenamaus wore the extravagant clothing of a Slaver Warden, silken and elegant with a certain exotic fierceness to them, as his brother wore thick plates of traditional Delphan armor that contorted to his muscular form. The two had failed to attend the last coronation, but found themselves here at this one by happenstance.

Once within they sat among their fellow Slavers, after all the Gamora were seen as pivotal leaders in the Warden community. Aenomaus covered up any emotion with a glassy look of neutrality though the elder Oenamaus was more than happy to show a degree of discontent, after all this Emperoer had promised much to many but the House Gamora profited from none of it.

Both the Archer family and Sigismund family were present. Garrick Sigismund sighed a sigh of regret that he had not arrived quickly enough to try to curry favour with whatever faction had elected this Emperor, but he hoped he could gain his ear some time after the coronation and lobby for, at least, Alexander's appointment as Warden.

Balthasar gazes at those gathering, taking note of his supporters and the promises arranged for them. At least those given promises were capable in what they could do and giving the Emperor results. His eyes glance at the Slaver Lord, Gaunt, before trailing it to the Zealots that walked in. He knew that Gaunt would address the issues with them, but would they result in more work than what Balthasar desired? Time could only tell. His eyes continue to scan the crowd for now, remembering when he was standing beside the last Emperor, Louis VII, helping him remain well during the coronation. Now it was his turn; to continue the work of his imperial ancestors and bring about a new age to the Empire.

Lord Eligio Altaine IX arrived shortly after Lady Medici of Regulus. He had been away from Solarius for almost a year on matters of state, ever since the previous coronation. He made a vow to himself to return home after this one. Altaine Industries tended to get overly ambitious without his thumb firmly holding it in place. It was also no small secondary matter that holoprojectors simply didn't suffice when it came to certain aspects of married life... Lady Adelaide had missed him, by all accounts.

Xaiver Rivarood strolled casually into the hall, not quite knowing why he was there. He reasoned that whatever had made his brother sendf him was important and that he should be there. The more he tried to reason with it, the more questions he needed answering. He shook it off and sat next to Lord Ramses II of Thrax and his wife.
"Greeting Lord Ramses, my brother sends his greetings" Xaiver said as politely as he could

After some time waiting, Balthasar would gesture to the necessary personnel to conduct the ceremony. Clearly people were less lively when the emperor wasn't on his deathbed. He stands up from the throne, raising his hand to gather the attention of those present.

Citizens, lords and ladies of the great Empire of Mankind, it is with joy and celebration that we on this day crown the new emperor, justly chosen by the members of the Imperial Council, rightly guided by the Promethean Creed. It has been ten Stellar Eras since the founding of the empire and humankind continue to walk forward through their struggles to bring peace and prosperity to the universe. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Marcher Lords who bravely repelled the monstrous swarms of evil from deep space and kept the empire safe. Our blessings go out to the Merchants, Slave and Technocrat Lords who greatly aid in keeping prosperity and justice within their realms. And we, of course, salute the Old Lords of the core worlds for justly ruling over our vast realm where unaccountable amounts of citizens live.

The Galactic Sphere is put in the emperor's left hand, the Promethean Staff in his right. The Chain of Worlds is hung around the emperor's neck, and the Imperial Crown of Terra is placed upon his head. Balthasar begins to recite his vows clearly.

On this day, in the 147th year in the 10th Stellar Era, I, Balthasar V of my name, receive the holy symbols of Mankind's Empire from the people who work and the lords who rule. I swear by the Creed that I will rule justly and be the light which mankind follows, from this day until my death. May the Imperial Council aid me in my rule, or bring me down if I ever turn from the path of righteousness.

No doubt a shot at Lord Ramses and his fellow Fayth Lords. Disregarding that the Hook was one of the safest systems mainly because of its tolerance. Ramses wasn't sure if this was a ploy or a sing of things to come.
