Default Piracy in the Southern Passage (The Fallen Clan)

    Piracy in the Southern Passage

From the depths of Tartarus deep within the void Lucifer and his Fallen brothers launch their raids on the Southern Passage, striking both at the fringes and deep within the heart of Technocrat Space. The first System targeted by the Clan in over three years is Marune, a notable Technocrat System blessed with wealth from trade along the Passage and mineral riches.

Unfortunately for the Pirates the fleet that leaves the Clan's hideaway is no true fleet at all, in fact after the series of crushing defeats the Clan has faced over the last decade
(still all too fresh in their memory) only a single unremarkable ship remains space worthy and fit for raiding operation. This ship is captained by Lucifer himself and crewed by the damned refuse of Imperial space. It has been many moons since any of the Clan have felt the weight of stolen gold in their hands, tasted fine vintage whiskey, felt the touch of an unspoiled women, or bathed in the blood of slain Imperials. But with any luck those wrongs will be righted and the broken honor of the Fallen reforged..so with that the hyper-drive is warmed and the Jump coordinates plugged into the ship's navigation computer.

Raid location changed to Marune System.

    SOS Call:

2/20 chance the raiders are seen as they’re making an approach, alerting local defenders and allowing them to intervene. A battle will be rolled before the raid can happen.
8/20 chance the victims get an SOS call out as the attack is underway. A battle may be rolled after the raid has happened.
8/20 chance the victims cannot send an SOS but do put up a fight. No battle.
2/20 chance the victims are taken completely by surprise. +10% loot.

1-2, the defenders of Marune are caught completely by surprise (+10% loot)
3-10, the raiders are able to prevent the victims from sending an SOS call
11-18, the victims get an SOS call, a battle may occur after the raid has begun
19-20, a battle will be rolled before the raid can happen.

Modifiers: -4 SOS (pirate), -4 SOS (trait)

Rolled a 18 - 8 = 10. the raiders are able to prevent the victims from sending an SOS call

Loot: Trade income will be based on 2 trade lanes and 100,000 total income.

    Rolled a 20, so 20%*2 + 8* (+4 guerilla warfare) of 100,000 Crowns is 48,000 Crowns loot.

    Raid in the Marune System

The Pirates spent some time patrolling the system searching for a mark worth their time, in their search they came upon a Class H Cargo Freighter, the HDS Gauntlet, one of the largest vessels of its kind anywhere along the entire Southern Passage. The ship was marked for a round trip trade mission into Zealot space, aboard were thousands of crew(wo)men, the finest food and drink in Technocrat Space, and mounds of Marune Gold , Platinum, and Silver. A tempting prize if it could be taken, but such a thing was no mean feat and the Fallen were but a single ship.

The attack began unassumingly at 3:00 STT, less than a third of the crew aboard the Gauntlet were awake when the Fallen descended upon their vessel. They attained clearance by way of stolen authorization codes and with hast landed in the freighters docking bay. When the Void 's docking bay opened pirates poured from her hold and out onto the Gauntlet.

Docking Bay Security was overrun before they could activate the ship wide alarm, but not without casualties among the Pirates. The next target struck was the Central Control Office, they were taken unawares and captured or killed before they could activate the ship's alarm beacon. With central control of the vessel in Fallen hands it was child's play to isolate the various compartments within the ship and clear the freighter section by section. Each section held out to the best of their ability, but cut off from their armory, reinforcements, and central control they never had a snow balls chance in hell as it were.

    Aftermath
Lucifer walked down the corridors of his latest conquest. 'Its just a ship..' he thought to himself 'Ah, but it could be so much more..' a familiar voice whispered from the back of his mind, as if it were clawing at his very soul. He began to look around at the members of his Clan, for the first time in three years they were happy. Many were drunk, most had claimed a women or two from among the Gauntlet's crew as thralls, and all had taken some of the golden riches that filled the ships hold.

The men were too engrossed in their merriment to even notice their Lord Reaver striding about them. They were playing drinking games, betting on which one of those poor bastards they threw out the airlock would last the longest before bursting into a bloody pulp, and the like. Lucifer approached the intercom and his voice crackled across the ship,

"The weak are meat and the strong do eat.." an chorus of cheers can be heard across the ship, "We have had our fun my Fallen, but sadly we must go now, for it would be a shame if an Imperial patrol came upon us now in our compromised state. So gather what you have claimed, be it women, gold, drink, or Crowns and return to our vessel. Oh.. I almost forgot. We must properly thank our hosts, give them the Fallen send off boys." with that another outpouring can be heard, this one a chorus of blood curdling screams.

Before leaving Lucifer opens the cargo bays to ensure anything the Fallen couldn't take shall feed the void instead of Imperial swine. On his way toward the Docking Bay he can see his Clan's work, those of the Gauntlet's crew who were still alive at the time of his announcement (and hadn't been claimed as property of the Fallen) had been crudely bolted (via nail-gun) onto the ship's walls, they were now hanging by their wrists and ankles taking on forms reminiscent of ancient Crucifixion. Some of these men were still struggling for life that would soon fade, but most had already slipped into a sleep they will never awaken from. Lucifer's Corsair was stuffed with his men and their riches, the outside had been painted red with blood and the Captain of the Gauntlet (now sadly departed) had been bolted onto the front of the ship as a twisted figurehead. One of the Fallen turned to face the Lord Reaver, "What shall we do with the ship, set off charges in the Jump Drive or we could.." "We will leave this ship here to be found by our enemy.." "But.." "Let it serve as warning of the coming storm.. Come my brother, there is much yet that must be done." With that the Fallen depart and Jump straight back into the darkness of the void from whence they came.

    Piracy in the Southern Passage

Fresh off their extraordinarily successful raid on Marune, and escape from the system before any Imperial Patrols or System Policing Forces could apprehend them, Lucifer and his Fallen set their sights on the neighboring Maddar System. Lucifer had originally planned on leaving Technocrat Space after his initial raiding venture, but the Technocrats have proven themselves particularly easy and wealthy pickings so the Lord Reaver has seen fit to raid a few more Systems on his way out of Technocrat Space. Now was the opportune time to line his pockets in preparation for the coming storm. Chaos was coming to the Empire Lucifer could smell the change in the Space Drift, but he'd need ships to even hope to take advantage of it, and for ships you need Crowns and lots of them.

OOC The Fallen Clan launches a second raid, this one on Maddar. Side note, I have bigger plans than just permanently raiding NPCs this is just the only way to gain capital as a Pirate at this juncture.

Modifiers: -4 SOS (pirate), -5 SOS (Guerilla Warfare)

Rolled a 17 - 9 = 8. The raiders are able to prevent the victims from sending an SOS call and are able to loot the system before patrols can come help.

Loot: Trade income based on 2 trade lanes with one 25,000 route, one 30,000 route, and one 45,000 route for a total of 100,000.

    Rolled a 6, so [(2*6%) + 10% (traits)] = 22% of 100,000 Crowns is 22,000 Crowns Looted.

After two successful pirate raids have been launched on the Marune and Maddar systems, the news of the raids has caused an increase in security in the nearby systems. All Systems within 2 spacelane jumps will be given a +5 to SOS rolls to represent this heightened security.

The news of the two raids will reach Terra in 12 RL hours if anyone wants to RP this.
