Calculation of prisoners after lose battles

How going calculation of prisoners after lose battles in game? and is the make sense continue game after all enemies run in battle ? I remember in RTW after continue all units you kill they count in dead...

Generally,the prisoners are the soldiers who are routing and getting killed by their enemies.So,when you are losing a battle,and the enemy has caught prisoners,these prisoners are routing soldiers of yours,who got killed

However, routing troops felled by missile attacks count as regular casualties.
