    Could someone look into these and do the same changes for Elite Hoplites or similar spear units like Triarii or Pedites Extraordinarii, or make this mod compatible with DeI?
    I just like the idea of them actually fighting with their swords too

    I'm not saying I disagree with the suggestion, since it looks awesome, but wouldn't these units lose their purpose as defensive spear units?

    For game this does not change anything, even with swords they are using spears by game mechanics. For example, that is why phalanx units are soo strong vs cav, because even when you charge them in the back and they use their swords, for game engine they still use pikes.

    BUT .... In Rome 1, this kind of units had 2 weapons ( weapon 1 and weapon 2 ) with differents stats and type isn't it ?
    Like :
    Weapon 1 : spear : attack 10 ...
    Weapon 2 : sword : attack 6 ...

    That was in Rome 1...now we have Rome 2 where such important and logical stuff does not exist...

    This is the problem of Rome 2 : a lot of little important stuff wich have been cut off.

    Units with spears+swords can be given separate melee weapon entries that 'average out' the features of their kit, I suppose.
