Okay, no, you're right, it would be much more normal if adult women had Action Man conventions.
If you attempting at sarcasm, well you're still correct. Conventions are very adult thing and a very nerdy thing. I thought that was something most of use had rather clear here. Don't you know what goes on there? Talks, interviews, signings; one can buy personalized merchandise, get books/comics signed, find other people whom you share interests with. These are things a young child (boy or girl) could not fathom or enjoy. SO yes, it is much more normal that adult women would organize an Action Man convention if that were suddenly extremely popular within the adult female community.

Weird how my only convention experience was moderately pleasant.
Still got my t-shirt, copy of Space Marine the movie, and an autographed copy of Thanquol's Doom.
Who needs childrens animated TV shows when you have adult ones?
I'll admit it, I like some kids' cartoons...from my own childhood.
You know, like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters, J.I. Joe, COPS (Central Organization of Police Specialists), Street Sharks, stuff like that.
@Ciciro: Indeed. All you need is South Park, the Simpsons, Archer, etc.
Care to explain what your point was then? As Lyra said, brony culture is something shared among adult and teenage fans of the show.
Obsession over anything can be questioned or accepted. There are large amounts of people obsessed with every single well-known movie, TV-show, cartoon, anime, singer, actor, and so-on. I don't have any obsessions but I don't feel the need to condemn people for having them.
As for adult men being weird for enjoying a show oriented at young girls, I'm curious:
What do you think of adult female fans of the show. Are they also weirdos or are they exempt from derision?
Do you think that if something is nominally directed at a group, it is by default impossible to enjoy by regular people from an older age group or of a different gender?
Have you ever watched or enjoyed a Disney movie? Would you condemn male adults for enjoying Frozen?

My point was to show how someone might want jump to that conclusion, not that I myself jumped to it.
You don't have any obsession? The guy passionately defending conventions over a girl's TV show, with avatars, username, and signature from the show, is not obsessed? ok.Obsession over anything can be questioned or accepted. And yes, I would find any adults who are obsessed with cartoon ponies weird, females including. Most of the fans and the people who show up at the conventions are male adults though.
And yes, I've watched Disney movies, and yes, I am a fan of some of them. I don't go to conventions over them, make up songs about Mufasa, or make up romantic subplots for these characters. At that point, I would be obsessed.
I don't see why people get pissed at others' free time and likes?
I guess some people are just born to be jealous of someone who's enjoying his/her life.
Lol, turns out that the internet is now obsessed. Woe! Woe! Why can't we not be bland and nonchalant; why can we not be '"cool"' like those hip people that follow social norms!
I give up. There this saying about horses and water and drinking.

Sure, but if you found that a reasonable conclusion to make after seeing footage of what bronycon is actually about, you'd be displaying terrible logic.
Hmm, maybe we should give that guy who made himself Churchill here a bad rep for being unhealthily obsessed with the man? Totally, if you enjoy something and you see people piling up insults against people who like said thing, you must be real obsessed with it to disagree with them. lol, pretty awful debating there, even for trolling. You don't have any obsession? The guy passionately defending conventions over a girl's TV show, with avatars, username, and signature from the show, is not obsessed? ok.
So you're being specific here, being a fan of cartoons is bad but if the characters are ponies, then it gains a whole new level of weird. Gotcha. And yes, I would find any adults who are obsessed with cartoon ponies weird, females including. Most of the fans and the people who show up at the conventions are male adults though.
So, you have a problem with obsession, or more specifically the more radical elements of fandoms in general. This is good, your ideas are approaching coherence. And yes, I've watched Disney movies, and yes, I am a fan of some of them. I don't go to conventions over them, make up songs about Mufasa, or make up romantic subplots for these characters. At that point, I would be obsessed.
Disney movies are, just like MLP: FiM, "family-oriented" entertainment that adults, teenagers (without complexes) and children can enjoy for their own reasons, some of them oriented more at girls, others more at boys. MLP is girly, but it's also (in my view and plenty of others) a genuinely good show independently of gender and age "barriers". Because it's good, the girly aspects of it aren't such a bad thing, they actually cut a refreshingly light dash among other things I like which often involve violence, cynical humour, gore, grit, dystopianism, seriousness etc.

I would thoroughly condemn male adults for enjoying Frozen...on account of them being pretty ing lame for doing so.
Aladdin and Lion King, that's where it's at, bro.
My problem with MLP is that it features ponies who are more or less anthropomorphic representations of cute little girls with big innocent doe eyes. No offense, but that just seems really, really creepy to me if an adult is into that.
lol fair enough for the first parts. The Incredibles is a favourite of mine, but that's a different matter.
Correction: The main characters are adults, and the show doesn't 'cutesify' them in general, beyond what you can see of their designs. There are some episodes which focus on three younger characters, though these are generally a good amount less popular.

Since the conversation was moved from "brony convention" to TWC's MLP fans, where there are some offensive implications, i'm closing it since we don't allow discussion of members on TWC. Closed.
