Default [WITHDRAWN][Citizen] Joseph Simonyi de Vitézvár (Patron: General Brewster)

    Patron's piece of art

    Hello ya'll,

Yet again I shall bring you Joseph Simonyi de Vitézvár a very nice young man. I'll let his outstanding personality do the talking and let the judging to you fine gentleman.

    previous app, http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...al-Brewster%29.

    Applicant's piece of art
Greetings good people of the citizenry,

I have been asked by the kind sir known as General Brewster (along with other citizens in a 2 month timespan) all offering to nominate me. I didn’t do it sooner because I didn’t think I was ready and still nervous about it, but Brewster help keep me on everything I guess. I guess that was because I always thought you needed to be an ultra modder fan and still a bit nervous about applying because I am not a modder, and thus no one will like me! But General told me there are a number of people who become citizens who do no modding or some at the very most.

What would Citizenship mean to me? It would be an extreme honor to become a Citizen here.

Now, I been here going on 11 months next month. I know that is not a huge amount of time to be on this forum, so I beg for forgiveness in that. I do not do mods. I do not do Youtube videos. I am the first to admit that.

However, I go around and talk to people. I am nice to all, even ones I disagree with their views. I am nice to everyone. I do not act nice so I can win awards or so I can get votes for citizenship. I desire to be Citizen, but I do not pretend to be nice to get it. I am a nice person overall, I greet the forum every day in the chat thread in the TD. I talk to people, I talk to them via PM. If they have a problem, I try to help them with it, give them advice. I don’t know, I am just a friendly person. I know some may think I can be annoying with my smileys and I don’t go out seeking to be an annoying person, I am just trying to be nice to everyone. A lot of the people I talk to tell me all the time at how nice I am and I am truly honored when people tell me that. I try to motivate people to do better on the forum!

I joined the Gaming Staff in July of 2013, a month after I joined the forum. That was a major push for me and all of my new friends here were happy I made it on the Staff after such a short period of time. I intended and still do to pay back their confidence by working hard. It’s not easy. I tried to revive the 45th TWC regiment (I made up the name) for Mount and Blade Napoleonic Wars. I haven’t had success like Prince of Macedon (also a citizen here) from a MP standpoint, but I am working on it. I am in the middle of hosting a tournament for M2TW. Nothing amazing, but anything to help the small TWC MP community there. I also got more MP awareness for some of the mods for NTW and such. I am also working in the Gaming Staff and got people to support me in a project that was close to me (I am not sure if I can share it here, not 100% sure on what the rules on for staff sharing?). I am also getting into the RPG forum here and trying to help all gamers on this site, MP, Roleplaying, Mafia and Interactive History.

    My tournament:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...1v1-tournament
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...1v1-tournament

I also write Game Reviews. I have many of them and also working on more. They are time consuming and my beginning ones, trust me I know, wasn’t great and I had to re-write some of them. But I followed the advice of the Staff here and sure enough, I went on to write some of my best reviews to date with more still on the way!

I have also had no warnings whatsoever and have a really clean track record here. I got one note for a debate I got to attached to but I am sorry for it and said that to the staff and I will never do that again.

In closing, what would I like to do to help TWC out? What differences do I want to make? I want to help this site indeed. I want to see Gaming Staff grow to something where it is on par to Content Staff and not looked at as a fancy staff position and nothing else. I want us in Gaming Staff to help the forum have more tournaments and awards and so on. I want to be able to help this forum out by being nice to all and upon become Citizen if you guys are so willing to honor me in such a title, I want to help motivate other people to do good too. I have people tell me “Jo, I can never be staff.” Or “Jo, can you tell me how I can be Staff?” or so on. These people have potential and all they need is (besides a bit of luck) to have someone believe in them so they can be properly motivated to help this forum out. Without people on Staff, regardless of if it is Admin staff or Gaming staff, we don’t have a TWC. I want to help people to have fun here, and if they willing to work hard and make their own luck, motivate them to join me and others as staff and hopefully earn the title of citizenship as well! I really want to become a citizen at this great forum, for working hard, and like I just mention, to help others out as well. My favorite cup to drink out of today is my Simonyi cup I brought for the TWC fundraiser for the new server! I just really love this forum and been highly motivated to help out people and the site since the very first week I join it.

I thank you all for reviewing my citizen app.

    Joseph “Jo” Simonyi.

I am Jo Simonyi! This was my prior application as you can see with my prior reviews! Here are my newer of the past month, if I don’t have something listed, then I didn’t find it good enough to be taken in so you disregard them:

    My other MP tournament:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...1v1-tournament
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...1v1-tournament

I am sorry if this isn’t as long as my last application. I decided to try a 2nd time and I pray I can make it. Since then, I wrote many more game Reviews, I joined Content Staff with the ES. I am apart of some stuff in Gaming Staff. In the Gaming Staff, I was nominated into our little tribune thing and I help recommend punishments and referrers to the Moderation staff for bad behavior and working on our own awards for the MP crowd since we are not able to fit them into the regular Site Awards. I have been on Gaming Staff for at least 6 months if not longer, trying to make it better for all. I’m one of the most active there. I been with Content for a month or two as well, trying to do my best with them. I am trying to become really active in these communities now helping out and learning everything I can about them, the RPG and Interactive Histories and so on. I want to learn how they operate so maybe I can do something for them with the Gaming Staff or the Content Staff. I am also writing articles for the ES and like to get into the GS if I can do. I got 1 article on TWC MP in the ES waiting to go up already. I am also trying to host an award ceremony for the TWC MP crowd and like to do more tournaments. I’m trying to even do more tournaments for some of the mods hosted here at TWC! Anything that can help, regardless of if it is small or big or whatever. I got a nearly spotless record, only getting one note in the D&D section that I am truly sorry for.

I got a letter of recommendation from Poach and I am awaiting on another few as well:

Jo has been an active member of Gaming Staff for some time now. Starting off with the Napoleon M&B mod a the Clan's leader, he's since moved into a more TW-orientated role and is involved actively in discussions throughout the GS world, helping out with ideas, Clan competitions and site-wide ideas and initiatives. I believe he has the necessary merit, from a Staff point of view, to make Citizenship a logical step forward for him.

I am hoping you guys approve me as Citizen this time around. I know the CdeC is not around anymore and I hope you guys can go easier on me. Not being a Modder is even harder for someone like me. I am asking you guys to be fair and give me a fair shot. I am willing to improve myself in any way shape and form. But I hear horror stories of people taking many years to succeed. If it must take that long, I will do it. But I am asking you guys to consider making Jo Simonyi a Citizen! It would be a complete honor for me. I think this is the time for me to become citizen so I can go on helping the way I am doing, helping all of the people on this forum that have faith in me. I ask of you kindly for this. Actually, Simonyi Smurf begs of you. And I don’t like begging generally. I beg of you, please, let me be Citizen. I would see this as a adding up of everything I did and all the time I put into TWC in the almost past year I been here. It will motivate me to do even more work for the forum. I seen untap potential in TWC and I want when the time comes to put others up for citizenship because I see certain members that need it to, as a reward for their hard work and/or for them to help others. It is called passing it forward or “Pay it on” or "Pay it forward".

    Thank you so much,
    Jo Simonyi

Yes he's worthy of citizenship. Although he's overly friendly and to me it comes across as fake and annoying. I hope when he reads this, he changes his attitude and will make an attempt to keep things real. Overdoing somethings can give nosebleeds to people. And i know i'm not the only one who feels this way.

Before this goes any further, there is something to be discussed. The patron can post here on defense of this gentleman. I have received information from reliable sources that your client has been approaching citizens and lobbying for votes. The Curator and an assistant has evidence of this.

What does the patron have to say about this?

Wow, first application of a member whom I literally don't even knew he existed in the first place. Interesting!

I appreciate his contributions (GTAV and Left 4 dead appear in both the old and new contributions, btw), and I guess if Poach says he deserve it, that should be enough.
What makes me hesitant is this

I do not like his tremendous desire or need for recognition (personally tested), (And probably related to this, the pleas in his application).
He talks to a lot of people. Like this AFAIK:
    - Hello, how are you?
    - Fine, thanks.
I have never seen him helping a user, as he claims (I might be wrong).

So I dont know. If anyone thinks that this is irrelevant or have a different point of view, please let me know.

Hm, the reviews are a bit short and not precisely in-depth (10 mins to read them all is a bit meh). I've to read more of him

    Edit:
    @MaxThrax: I am

@M: I did. While waiting for GB's reply, I take the time to get to know the Applicant better

Can I see some of this evidance ? To be honest I have no clue how I should even respond on this. Can the evidance be presented like it would have in the cdec. If it's so I 'll withdraw my patronage but before I do that I want to see it.

No, I see no reason to present it in the open yet. I've forwarded the PM to you.

As to how you should respond to this, perhaps your viewpoint on this matter. I am not sure how he would have kept you in the dark about this.

He seems nice I suppose but completely disingenuous; a veritable empty suit fawning for attention, very obviously molding his online persona and behavior in order to elicit a desired response. I echo mishkin and Ishan's comments and also mention that he has been busted for plagiarism when working for Content, as m_1512 and others here in Content can vouch for. If the accusations of soliciting votes on this app are true, then such would certainly indicate an unpleasant pattern of behavior. I won't say no just yet as I'm not 100% how the new citizenship system and criteria are supposed to work, but what I've seen from this app is not promising; not to mention the fact that he was only recently rejected on his prior app. On the plus side, he does seem to be quite active on the Gaming Staff. If Poach vouches for him then that's certainly a plus. As I said I shall reserve judgement for now.

Of these facts there cannot be any shadow of doubt: for instance, that civil society was renovated in every part by Christian institutions; that in the strength of that renewal the human race was lifted up to better things-nay, that it was brought back from death to life, and to so excellent a life that nothing more perfect had been known before, or will come to be known in the ages that have yet to be. - Pope Leo XIII

    Ouch!

Without wanting you to be liable to a SND, was it intentional plagiarism or was it just a silly mistake?

I don't know the details, which is why I have yet to condemn this app. My knowledge of the situation only goes as far as this:

By the way, I really don't know who is telling the applicant about this, or maybe this thread is visible to everyone. But in any case, I'll make a few things clear.

There is no smear campaign. We have evidence that the applicant had asked for members to vote for them. Perhaps it was deliberate, or maybe the applicant really did not know this is wrong. Either way, I am surprised the patron knows nothing of this.

Yes, lobbying for votes as an applicant might be morally wrong, but it's not unconstitutional. Also, this forum is visible to every full member iirc.

Make a statement saying that I never asked directly for votes, I only asked multiple people if I was ready.
