Re: Can't Start the MOD Help!!
First of all, let me thank uanime5 for this mod. Just started toying with it and it looks very nice.
Next order of business is why won't the mod start, as many complain, even if "they did everything right". As troubling as that may sound to you, that is precisely the problem. Because... the instructions are wrong!
I can't speak for the Gamefront version (because Gamefront pretends I do not exist and I pretend I do not care), only for the alternate version, with all its archives and extraction points.
So, all you have to do is forget the instructions, open the archives, see what's in them and decide where is the correct place for extraction.
Just in case some obscure reason prevents you from doing that, here are some other instructions for you:
1. The 2.0 version can be downloaded here:
http://www.gamershell.com/download_58652.shtml
http://depositfiles.com/files/5j9f70siu
To install download the TW_conquest_2.0.zip or conquest_2.0.exe file and unpack it in the MTWII folder (default location 'C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War'). Overwrite the existing files.
2. The 2.2 patch and can be downloaded from any of these sites:
http://depositfiles.com/files/an0w2059x
To install download the conquest patch 2.2.exe file and unpack it in the mods\conquest\data folder (default location 'C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\conquest\data'). Overwrite the existing files.
3. The 2.3.3 patch and can be downloaded from any of these sites:
http://www.mediafire.com/?u4n798emznktn6i
To install download the Conquest patch 2.3.3.exe and unpack it in your 'Medieval II Total War' folder. The default location of the 'Medieval II Total War' folder is 'C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War'. Overwrite the existing files.
4. Download the conquest patch 2.3.5.rar attached to this post.
To install unpack the conquest patch 2.3.5.rar in the Medieval II Total War\mods\conquest\data folder.
5. The 2.3.6 patch and can be downloaded from any of these sites:
http://depositfiles.com/files/8ll300ux4
To install unpack the conquest 2.3.6.rar in your Medieval II Total War\mods\conquest\data folder.
6. Check the download post for the updated .bat files. They go to the MTWII folder (default is 'C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War'). Overwrite the existing files.
7. Make note to self: I shall never follow rules or instructions if I can think for myself, either in games or in real life, because it works better on the long run!
8. Run the mod, have fun, thank the modder, help an old woman cross the street.
Last but not least, please don't be offended by my humor. I only want to make fun of situations/conceptions, not people. I remind you that these apply to the alternate version for as long as the files do not change. The mod is an outstanding piece of work (20000+ files, 7 GB) so it's understandable why managing all that, packing them in 2 different versions, updating links and instructions can give you a headache and lead to unintended mistakes.
