Meh TN panel. 4k res = awesome 144hz = awesome Gsync and thin bezel great. Sadly having moved on to IPS I would never go back to TN panels.

Im waiting on 2560x1440 IPS 120 Hz screens.

Apparently it's going to be $800 in the states...

I forgot to mention it also has 1ms input delay - CRT standard again finally.

You have a very nice monitor but the Asus one is (will be when it comes out) better.

If I had your monitor as well I would use it for everything except games.

Then I'd use my Benq 2410t for gaming because it has a higher refresh (120hz), less motion blur(2ms gtg), and probably a lower input delay(~5ms).

If I had to buy a monitor that was currently available then I'd probably want one with Gsynch and 120+hz. There won't be much to choose from by that point and it would mean putting up with 1080p.

So basically this new monitor is the same res and size as yours, but even better for gaming than mine.

I'm really fussy with screens, mainly cos I miss stuff like no motion blur at all from the big old CRTs, and if that wasn't the case then I'd probably have no complaints at all with your monitor.

And honestly if someone gave me one like yours I'd be over the moon. That res on 27" is simply awesome, and it being double 1080p means pretty much perfect 1080p image quality if you needed to drop it down a notch in some demanding game.

120hz is what's required for 3d glasses, so you can have 60hz per eye, but when you're whizzing around in some first person shooter it also provides a smoother image.

60hz screens can't display more than 60 frames per second, so the ROG screen allows up to 144 frames per second with it's 144hz.

Perhaps there's not much point in going beyond 90 frames per second, because beyond that it's probably impossible to tell the difference, but 144hz allows for 72 frames per second 3d which is certainly nice.

Yeah, you won't be missing too much, but when you upgrade you're probably going to love the difference - And you're right about the price dropping. PC stuff that just came out is usually for people with more money than... me, at least.

Those fat old CRTs I mentioned could usually do many resolutions with no loss in quality, because they didn't have a set pixel size. These newer thin screens are specifically designed for one resolution, they have a fixed pixel size, and so other resolutions come out blurry. But 1080p being half the res of 4k means that a 4k screen can povide exactly 4 pixels per 1080p pixel - Those 4 pixels can make a perfect square pixel, and that means none of the blurriness we'd expect from less capable monitors.

It's my pleasure to share this info with you and I'm glad you appreciate it

I wouldn't be able to see that as an upgrade compared to my 120hz 24" 1080p monitor.

This image perhaps gives an idea of why gsynch begins to seem even more important to me than 120hz:

I really want a gsynch screen to confirrm it's this good.

No tearing, no stuttering, no input lag, clearer images with stuff in motion, the ability to make it effectively seem like my PC is more powerful... The hype surrounding it is pretty amazing
