Not working with gold?

So I downloaded the mod and set the launch options and it loads up but at the first screen before the menu it stops working and just said a problem has caused it to stop. So I assume I did something wrong or downloaded the wrong one maybe just don't know what any help would be great. I'm also using steam if that helps.

I assume you are trying to play RTR VII? If so, have you followed the below directions for installing a mod using steam? I don't have the steam version myself, but if you post the steps you took while installing, and the exact mod version, I will try to figure out where you went wrong

1. Run the RTR VII installer like normal, changing the install path to xxxx/steam/steamapps/common/rome total war gold
   
2. Ignore the launcher and short-cut prompts, they won't work
3. Open Steam, right-click on Rome: Total War Gold in the My Games menu
4. Select Properties
5. Under the General tab select Set launch options ...
6. Type in -mod:RTRVII -show_err -nm without quotations and click OK
7. Launch Rome: Total War Gold by double-clicking it in the My Games menu
8. Select Barbarian Invasion from the two-choice list and Launch.

Stupid question but how do i change the install path?

Right click on the game in the library. Go to properties.
