    FoTS Expanded Map

Hello! I'm working with Destin Faroda to make an expanded FoTS map .. The idea is add more division of the Han system (considering how important they were, and if it's possible all Hans), including Hokaido (I mean all the Island). Also we want to add the shogunate as a playable clan.

For doing this we need some help.

    Historical Help:
-Info about the provinces that we need to add. That include the clan, Daymo name, clan relevance (in was important or not), special resourses, clan colours and flags, allignation and all util info.
-Info about important towns in all provinces of the game.
-Which provinces were under direct control of the Tokugawa clan.

    Technical Help:
-We need to now if its possible add new siege maps to the campaign. Only for the new settlements, not for the olders
-Also we want to know if its possible to eliminate the fort restriction to recruit units (I mean to make unnecesary to have one to recruit)

(I hope I'm posting in the right place...)

I really think this is a great idea. Reading up on the Boshin War and stuff, the FotS campaign map does feel a bit lacking in a few clans/domains. I could help in the historical area; I did some research on some provinces and I'd like to contribute. I'm useless in the tech field, though.

    Anyway, awesome idea!

that would be great. We really need historical researchers. Destin send me this menssage:

''comparing Colton's and CA's map leads to the following observations:
    - Colton claims there's a province named Tsikugo SW of Buzen.
    - Colton claims there's a province named Idzumi W of Kawachi.
    - Colton claims there's a province named Sima E of Ise.
    - Colton claims there's a province named Awa S of Kazusa.
Besides, there's a huge difference between Colton's and CA's Northern Honshu.''
So there is something to work into .. Also We would like to add towns to all provinces .. maybe doing that in a historical way is to hard .. But if you know a few it would be great

Not possible. You need to use one of the maps already in the game. Otherwise, the game will load a "default" map.
-Also we want to know if its possible to eliminate the fort restriction to recruit units (I mean to make unnecesary to have one to recruit)
You mean you want to have cities without castles? I think it's not possible, but try it, im not sure about this.

CA divided Northern Honshu according to the present-day prefectures, to fit the other domains I guess. Either way there are so many domains in northern Honshu (there are 11 listed domains in Fukushima alone acc. to Wikipedia, etc; 8 of those have castles) it'd take a bit to list them all. Coming up with a coherent list soon.

Frodo, I though that it was possible to add maps to new settlements, but not to the existing ones.. Is that possible or not? .. About eliminating the castles is possible, I did that and worked .. Not only worked, the campaing model was diferent too (that time was a farm).

Also, Is it possible to give a new settlement another campaing battle maps? Is that is possible we could put a specific map for the towns

About the maps, you can add maps to new settlements, and change the maps of the existing ones, but ONLY using vanilla maps. You can, for example, set a mountain castle to use a coastal castle map, or put a new settlement and set it to use a plains map. But you can't set a settlement to use a map you created with ted (for example, an imaginarium tokyo map). If you try it, the game will load a "default" map (I think the default map is the coastal map, or plains map) according to the level of your castle.

About eliminate the castles,... if you have a battle in that position, what map is loaded? This is the reason i thought castles shouldn be deleted.

Frodo, is it possible to put for example, a gempei map in the fots campaign? That would solve the problem ... The map that time was the planice castle .. The one which have rivers and the bridges.. I should test if it was that one with the castle ..

So far, I have Dewa and Mutsu provinces ready so I'll be giving them now. Order is domain name, daimyo (and how long they rule by game limits), and castle. This is based on the situation in 1863-1864, the start of the game:

    • Iwakitaira - Ando Nobutami - Iwakitaira - PS
    • Izumi - Honda Tadanobu - Izumi - PS
    • Yunagaya - Naito Masayasu - no castle - PS
    • Miharu - Akita Tomosue (until 1865), Akisue (1865-) - Miharu - PS
    • Fukushima - Itakura Katsuaki (until 1866), Katsumi (1866-1868), Katsusato (1868-) - Fukushima - PS

    • Tanagura - Matsudaira Yasuhide (until 1866), Abe Masakiyo (1866-1868), Masakoto (1868-) - Tanagura - PS
    • Shirakawa - Abe Masato (until 1866), Masakiyo (1866, 1868), placed under Nihonmatsu control (1866-1868) - Komine - PS
    • Soma/Nakamura - Soma Mitsutane (until 1865), Tomotane (1865-) - Nakahara - PS

    Miyagi:

    • Sendai - Date Yoshikuni (until 1868), Munemoto (1868-1870), Muneatsu (1870-) - Sendai, Shiroishi - PS

    Iwate:

    • Ichinoseki (from Sendai) - Tamura Kuniyoshi (until 1868), Takaaki (1868-) - Ichinoseki - PS

So, I guess that's it for me for now. Further info coming soon, but right now I'm tired. Tell me if there's anything wrong and I'll try to revise (and apologize )

    I'll see you all tomorrow.

In theory yes, but the castle building in fots has 5 levels, and the maps in ROTS have only 4 levels. I don't know what will happend. What I want to know is: when you figth in the city without castle, what battlemap is loaded?

  14. #14

    Default Re: FoTS Expanded Map

The battlemap in that case was a lvl 1 castle .. The one that have the river around the walls and 2 bridges .. The idea is, if it is possible, to add provinces with a fortress, as in the vanilla game, and inside those provinces, a sub province where you have a town, for that it's necesary to associate the battle map to a unused campaign map, specially modified to be a town .. Then in the campaign there will be specific buildings for each tipe of place .. If this work it will make a huge change in the game

Working on Echigo province and the rest of the Chubu region. Along the way, I'm making a map based on what I've researched. If you guys want to, I could show you what I've done so far. Some domains aren't shown there since some territories have merged now (I'm using a blank map from the Japanese Wiki for a basis), and I'm just filling out their approximate location and holdings, so they might be inconsistent with some info later.

But I'll gladly accept corrections, so if anyone finds anything missing or wrong about anything, a comment wouldn't hurt.

Do you know Paradox' Sengoku? It claims to have filled the map with historical kuni and kori: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/...iary-2-The-Map
Might be worth to have a look at it.

I played the game a long while ago and it did have all kuni as it was at the Onin War. This could be useful.

Be right back. Installing the game again and taking some screens.

PS: DYK the whole of the province of Kai was under direct Shogunate control and not under the control of any domain since 1724? But yeah, it was still called Kofu domain.

Thanks for the information. We want to replace the useless Obama clan with the Tokugawa Shogunate. With this information, the Tokugawa will now have two provinces: Edo and Kai.

Hey! So I finally got to take screencaps from Sengoku that would be uploadable here (first ones were in .bmp). Although the game tries to go for historical accuracy, the province names and borders are from 1869 (but hey, better fit for us, ne?)

So... here are the screencaps. I hope they could be of some use.

In the meantime, I'll be creating another list...
