I'm REALLY in a mood of playing the old one, until the new one arrives. And then I'll play all over! 25 Gastraphetes bring anything down in seconds!!!

I'm one of the people who are glad its only a visual update. The original game was good. You've already got 12 Factions in the game (not 4). It's an RTS not a RTT I don't need a million factions.
Whatever the game lacks will be available in optional mods.

I would buy this if it were a sequel.
Add a few other cultures, different Mythology, add the Persians, the Aztecs, the chinese.... errr, some, african tribe? I dunno, some interesting culture with an interesting mythology. Just a cavalcade of monsters.
As it stands I doubt I will buy it.
I look forward to seeing you all get absolutely decimated by my mighty myrmidons.
I actually though the same as you but then I remembered CoH2, CoH1 is superior to its squeal in every way and if these guys decided to add new stuff then I would be very worried.
the game worked before and it will work now (as long as they fix the lag that AoE2 experiences) then this game is as good as gold to me.

That is a terrible comparison, and I hesitate to understand the conclusion you got from it :/I actually though the same as you but then I remembered CoH2, CoH1 is superior to its squeal in every way and if these guys decided to add new stuff then I would be very worried.

I wouldn't call it a terrible analogy, its a pretty straightforward "if it isn't broken don't fix it" kind of deal. CoH1 (vanilla, before the expansions) had this terrific feel and gameplay and the damage the expansions could deal was limited because the base game was so solid. The team that made VCoH was long gone by the time that 2 was developed and that was why it was such a meh game

Client of the honorable Gertrudius!
agreed, the british faction made the game an absolute turtle fest though the panzer elites were somewhat more balanced they still made for a very, very odd match compared to good old class vanilla.
I would not mind if they improved the models and added more detail into things but new factions? new units? hell no.
The only thing they needed to do is update the models of units. Thats all.
I mean.. thats the only thing that always struck me as ugly when zoomed in. I'd just like the units to look more as you see them on the icons. What truly disturbed me is that when you install age of mythology, you see better looking versions of various units.. but those models are only used in cutscenes. I mean.. I want that level of detail through the entire game. Arkantos looked much better in the cutscenes than in the actual game.
can't models be improved by mods? just look at M2TW, the models used in vanilla are when you compare them to third age.
surely we can do the same to AoM...

Maybe the argument here is to avoid sequels less gaming companies fall in to the same sequel/reboot **** that riddles movie franchice's. I would agree with that logic to a certain extant.I wouldn't call it a terrible analogy, its a pretty straightforward "if it isn't broken don't fix it" kind of deal. CoH1 (vanilla, before the expansions) had this terrific feel and gameplay and the damage the expansions could deal was limited because the base game was so solid. If the argument here is: Don't make a sequel with new things because another games sequel sucked, let's instead play with the same game but with prettier graphics for an even bigger price. Then it is pretty retarded. You'd think you'd want the next title to have more stuff than the last one...
Well if you're like me and you aren't sure where, two moves and ten years later, your disks are, its kind of nice to get your favorite throwback in an improved form. If you already have AOM and AOT then this isn't a huge improvement.
