Just curious how many factions MTW had to see if it is more or less then MTW2?
I know STW only had 7 plus rebels but didn't really play MTW as by the time I upgraded my computer RTW came out.
Cheers

Oh cool, plus rebels that is 19 then.
For some reason I thought it was more then MTW2 but happy it wasn't.
I am confused here, if there is only 19 faction slots. What will the 2 remaining be used for? Are they wasted? Because i'd love to see some more factions (Serbia, Lithuania etc.)
No, this is about the original MTW game not the new and improved MTW2 that is coming out this year.
The Golden Horde emerge in 1230. There is another faction - Burgundy. They come out either High or Late era, as do the Swiss (if you're playing from Early or High at the beginning). If you start Late, the Swiss are already present.
However...wasn't it that MTW was highly moddable. I am almost certain that BKB and MTW-XL had a larger amount of factions...I may be at error but I think I remember it that way...
From the pride and arrogance of the Romans nothing is sacred. But the vindictive gods are now at hand. On this spot we must either conquer, or die with glory (Boudiccas Speech, Tacitus, Annals, XIV, 35)
under Patronage of Emperor Dimitricus, Granddaughter of the Black Prince.
Yes Xl (can't say anything for BKB haven't played his version) added lots of new factions.
Genoa, Venize, Serbia, Bulgaria, Armenia and Bohemia (I think).

The factions were more mod friendly in MTW, some mods like BKB and XL had like 30 factions.
However the graphics were a pain to mod, since instead of 3d units they used sprires. So instead of one model and one skin, you had to draw like 40 perfect frames if you wanted a new unit graphic.
