    Default European faction research thread

This thread deals with all factions and cultures in Europe, Urnfield culture, Mycenae, etc.
Feel free to post images, links and articles that deal with European Bronze Age cultures, any time-period is useful but try to focus on 1500-1000 BCE. This thread will also deal with the Sea-people cultures, given the majority of theories on their origins relate them to europe.
I will collect the best information I see in this post.

hello everyone, I'm here to give you help in the search, I'm an Italian archaeologist and I hope to give some useful information.
This is an image with the subdivisions for archaeological facies during the bronze, made by Renato Peroni, a professor from University "La Sapienza" of Rome(therefore very reliable):

I'll start with Sardinia, during the Bronze Age this area is really interesting, for the so-called pre-nuragic company(facies of: saturricola-s.cosimo-antigore)

These reconstructions are based on a major exhibition:

Personally, i suggest we save doing the Nuraghe until we have the resources to do all their unique military equipment. So they, in my opinion, should be one of the last rosters we do.

well, I'm glad you like it, actually that is a rectangular shield, but is thought to be inherent to the classes of elite warriors, while the warrior classes were dressed as usual likely in bronze "nuragic"

    [IMG] [/IMG]

probably this type of clothing comes from shardana, a group of the Sea Peoples who, according to a theory very much in vogue, would go to the island after a long allocation in Egypt, in fact, we see Egyptian representation using triangular long swords, daggers , spears and a shield round. The skirt is short, are equipped with armor and a horned helmet. The general similarities between the military equipment of the warriors Shardanas and that of nuragici of Sardinia, have raised concerns that shardana they had established on the island following the attempted invasion of Egypt.

This http://www.diva-portal.org/smash/get...FULLTEXT01.pdf is an article which also deals with Bronze Age Nordic culture clothing and artefacts with some reconstructions shown. The situation is exceptional here because we have near complete assembles due to special burial circumstances.

There are some hints (locations of jewelry, brooches etc. in graves) that the clothing of more southern middle European regions (Urnfield f.e.) from which we have nothing left looked perhaps quite similar to Nordic clothing, especially in the absence of trousers.

I also read somewhere some years ago that from the condition of the skin on the soles of the feet and the toe orientation of bog bodies it can be presumed that the people went barefooted as well as with shoes, probably depending on social situations and climatic conditions during the year. Unfortunately I don't find the source.
