    Weierstrass Fots Mod

    Note: I'm not native speaker so I may make some mistakes

    Fots is really funny to play, but most of us feel how battles are just putting a few ranged units and cannons and make a nice massacre. A large number of units are unnusefull too. So today I present you a mod that have the objetive of making fots campaing more interesenting, making all units usefull, with longer combats. Also I changed the unkeep, making it very low, but the units and buldings are much more expensive, so you are going to take care about them.

    British Dragoon: Recruiteables at British Port. This one is an Hybrid, really good for dismount behind the enemy.

    Republican Hero: Recruitable at Army War College. Needs Secret Society. Just for balance, nothing special, a sharpshooter. I think that I will replace the uniform as soon as I have a good idea.

    Rebalances:

    Battle Rebalances:
    -Units are slower and get tired faster
    -Melee units have much better performance in melee
    -Defence and moral is much higher, so the battles last longer
    -Bullets are less efective, that force you to use mixed armies
    -The new stats makes the sieges easier for the attacker and harder for the defender (this is very unbalanced in vanilla)
    -Cavalry is worthy
    -Kisho ninja es now a hero tipe unit .. Expensive and with really low unit size. Designed only for killing strategical units

    Economical Rebalances:
    -Unkeep is much lower
    -Unit are more expensive (and also slower to produce, you dont want to loose them)
    -Buldings are much more expensive

    Other Features:

    Play with republican forces in custom battles! Also with british, French, and American forces

    Need Help!:
    I'm new at this, so I need help. Here a list of issues:

    -Unit colurs. The foraigners should have the same colour always but I cannot do it. solved
    -How do I eliminate a bulding bonus? np with this
    -French hat texture do not load properly .. Saving problems? I used photoshop
    -Unit voices .. I cannot set the foraigners unit voices
    -The mod only work as movie .. why? solved

    -Inceasing fort health and towers damage (how do i do it?) by recomendation it's not going to be modiffied
    -Making a replubican agent (is that possible?) yes but need time
    -Making foraigners generals with their own skill tree

    great work man,if i ever decide to play the FOTS-campaign then i will download and use your mod !

    you could try to delete the colour_mask_texture,if there is one.

    Usually, every unit has a uniform entry (uniforms table). You can specify the colour in uniform_to_faction_colours table.

    Thanks to CA's bad game design, it is impossible to fix/mod several parts of the games. For example, I can't delete garrisons, magical special abilities and certain useless buildings.
    The game uses the stuff from the pack files as basis and overwrites it with the mod files. Therefore, it is impossible to get rid of these problems. Maybe modifying the packfiles could solve all troubles, but then the mod size would skyrocket to several gigabytes.

    I too failed when trying to give my Portuguese Tercos Pikemen the foreigner voices.

    Movie is the prefered format for mods.

    Impossible. There is no "allows recruitment of republican agent" ability. Thanks, CA!

    Q:How do I eliminate a bulding bonus?
    A: Just put the db table that give that bonus to the building in your mod with the same name than the original table, and change the table of your mod. This will make the game to load your table instead the original table, and the building bonus will be eliminated.

    EDIT: If this don't work (it seems to happend with some tables) put that table (and, if there are other tables that don't work, put them too) in a separate pack file and save that pack file as "patch", not as "mod". That works.


    Q:Unit voices .. I cannot set the foraigners unit voices.
    A: I never tried, but my curiosity never ends. I will try lately.

    Q:The mod only work as movie .. why?

    A: First, movie are NOT the preferred format for the mods. The preferred format is MOD. Movie format is for pack files with files needed for mods (textures, music, videos,...). Second, mod pack files can't have spaces in his names. Replace the spaces with "_" and It will work.

    Q:Inceasing fort health and towers damage (how do i do it?)
    A: In the table "battlefield_buildings" there are 2 columns: hit points and ignition thershold. Change them as you want, but be careful: to modify this table with PFM can make your mod incompatible with multiplayer. Never modify this table with PFM.

    Q:Making a republican agent (is that possible?)
    A: In the table "agents" you can set an agent only recruitable for republicans in the "religion" column.

    Frodo's right! It is indeed possible to add a republican agent to the game. I have just now discovered the building effect "bos_availability_quality_republican_agent". The assembly kit recognizes my new agent! Miracles do happen, as it seems.

    wow that's great ..
    hmm i think that it's possible to give ranged infantry an ability to throw grenades .. what do you think about that?

    I dont think so, but It could be done .. Know I'm more interested in another mod (complementary to this one) .. Anyways I'll update the mod (know is well balanced)

    Sorry I did not understand well what you tried to say .. If you were asking if I'm going to make more unit parts the answer is not (at least for a while) .. but fell free to use and modiffy them
