This is the funniest let's play commentary. AI factions are not as friendly as they used to be.

Thats a pity, you should learn it. Its a great language, very strong and colourful with a huge vocabulary.
"German (Deutsch) is spoken natively by approximately 100 million people, making it one of the world's major languages. It is also the most widely spoken first language in the European Union. With the inclusion of the second-language speakers, the number of German speakers is about 200 million."

And almost none of them - including the native speakers - is able to speak and write it right!

Edit: Interesting how a moder plays/comments his work - will have a look at it tonight.

Pardon me, I meant to say "German", that was a typo.

I'm sure it is a beautiful language, just a very difficult one, so difficult that in most Slavic languages you are called Nemcy or Nijemci(those that do not speak) which comes exclusively from how complex and hard to grasp and speak it was to the Slavic non native speakers.

Your explanation is not quite true, the Slaws had first contact with Germanic trader and couldn't understand them, since those trader could not speak Slavic. Therefore they called them Nemek. The Trader knew that the Slaws to not speak German and so they tried non verbal communication.
I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain.

Any work made on the basis of this Mod is absolutely welcomed and great, in German as in any other language, because this Mod is simply awesome.

Anyway if I may add my thoughts here, although I totally respect the choices of the German Mod team about the Germanness of the Mod and of the War, please remember guys, the Thirty Years War is not only a German affair, perhaps it started as a German affair, but then, it became one of the most important wars for the whole History of Europe, with all the European nations involved (also Italy played a role in the war, firstly because the Spanish troops used the way connecting Genoa to the Flanders and passing through 'Val Tellina' to send troops in the Flemish theater, second because some of the most prominent characters of the war were Italians as Ambrogio Spinola, Ottavio Piccolomini, Raimondo Montecuccoli etc., etc., third because Wallenstein brought his armies in Italy for the so called 'War of Mantua', fourth because the Vatican and the popes played a political and diplomatic role in the various phases of the war and not always the role you would expect by the big boss of the catholic Church!), we could even see the Thirty Years War as a true First World War, in which Europe and the Western warfare changed forever.

The War, in fact, started as an internal German issue between religious confessions, ended as a Continental struggle between France (a Catholic Nation, supported by the Pope, under the leadership of a Catholic Cardinal, allied with Protestants and saving the Swedish and Protestant armies from an almost sure defeat) and the Empire, the War saw the end of the Spanish Imperial ambitions, the birth of Holland as a powerful European state, the definitive division of Germany in many small and medium states, the emergence of France as the true hegemonic power of the continent under the Reign of Louis XIV. The War had changed the History and the Culture of the Continent.

No, the Thirty Years War was not only a German affair, it was a gigantic tragedy involving Europe, from Poland to France, from Scotland (how many Scots fought and died on the battlefields of Germany during those damn 30 years?) to Spain, from Italy to Hungary, from Sweden to Turkey. So please let us, not Germans, take part in this wonderful tragic clash of peoples and states, the 30YW is part of our common legacy as Europeans.

Yes, of course the Thirty Years War evolved fastly to an european war.
So, you wrote correctly and nice the facts. But, what´s the matter? Any Problems or Questions? Why did you wrote that text?

I wrote the text because in my opinion the German nature of the 30 Years War is extending its influence on the whole cultural setting of the Mod and of the followers and players of the Mod itself, whereas I would like that many more people, not necessarily of German origin, would be involved in this Mod and in this Forum, because I feel the 30YW as one of the most fascinating periods of the European History, not only of the German History (but actually, what is the German History if not the central part, and probably the most important one, of the whole European History?), if you think that Descartes wrote his main work inside a stove during the war!

... anyway sorry if I annoyed you with my post, please continue your good work, it's absolutely interesting and continue to use the German Language because, as you said, it's a wonderful language spoken by millions of people, but let me say that I hope that many more works will be produced using this Mod as basis, and if some of them will be in some other language, that is not the beautiful Language of Kant and Hegel, I'll be very, very, very, very happy.

At this point you could say: 'Sorry but, actually, who cares about your personal feelings?' and also in this case, you'd be right, so, now, I shut up, not before having repeated again: 'Compliments for your nice work!'

You didnt annoyed me. I only did not understand what was the matter of your post.
And again, i am not really sure what the problem could be. The mod is done in english language, all texts are translated. I am pretty sure about that, because i had to do that cruelty job alone, and it costs me months of my lifetime..
German is only the spoken words in videos or commands of generals/strat map characters and such things.

Hm, or does you mean the Lets Play Video? I speak german, because i guess, if i would speak in english, it would be more funny but interesting for the watching users
But i will upload in next weeks a Lets Play of 1648 in english, done by "Steelwarrior".

Put the thing in this way: I would like to see more works and more people from other European locations, focused on the Mod named '1648 - The Thirty Years War' .... because it's a wonderful Mod.

Please believe me, this is not a critic for you: IMO you used a nice Language absolutely well suited for this Mod and perfect for your work! I was only talking of a cultural atmosphere about one of the most interesting age of European History and about a wonderful Mod representing it, I wish it was more international but ... I repeat: this is not, nor could it be, a critic for you or for your work or for the work of the whole Modding Team, of course!

Well, Diocle I think I can understand what you mean and I agree that it would be great if more people from many nations would pay attention to this time and maybe ad their efforts by moding it.

But although all your input on the 'european war' and the participation of many nations and their losses is right and good there are some special points which make this a real specially important german interest:

    1. It became a european war, but it was mainly fought by germans (even in the later swedish armies as ex.) on german soil on the backs of german people(s).

    2. It was really no war (focussed on or mainly) about religion - you named those strange alliances yourself - It was a war against 'germany' if you consider anything like that existed with the 'Reich' and/or against Habsburg - a struggle for dominance in europe - but still and again german soil etc. ... Just see what Richelieu said about it ... well roughly cutted: "destroy the germans"

    3. Its outcome the "Westphälischer Frieden" determined the fate of germany for centuries (till 1806 or maybe 1870/71 at least) and crippled the Reich severely. It started the phase when 'germany' was no longer capable of resisting its enemies (conquering wars of Louis XIV. as example) and every patty little Souvereign was really that and thought and acted like an independent monarch. It#s the point when the 'Old Reich' is lost and no capable replacement is found.

    4. The effect of the war on the german people was totally devastating - it was anihilation in parts of the land. So sorry, but the losses of scottish mercenaries are a nuissance.

The 30 years war and its outcome is maybe the most important event in german history ever and it reaches as far as 1945 at least (and no other event like for example 1848 is understandable without considering it), if not to the present. I dont think any other nation in europe will and will want to claim that importance for it.

Sorry for my english - I'm trying, but often failing.

Edit: Watched the first two issues of your 'play-through" Monguntiacum
