    Default Total War RTD: Rome

    TOTAL WAR RTD:
    ROME

Ok this is the time !

Every turn will last 24h, in some cases 48h. When I won't be able to GM I will let the task to someone willing.

WARNING: You are not allowed to block a faction's expansion by surrounding its military regions if there are neutral or friendly relations between you.

    Unclaimed factions will be inactive.

    Factions
    Senate: Lenin Cat (giving missions)

    Julii: General Maximus

    Scipii:

    Brutii: Ivan Braginski

    Carthage: High Fist

    Numidia: Rhinelander

    Greek City-States: Lord of Dread

    Macedon: NobleWoman

    Pontus:

    Seleucid Empire: Helius

    Armenia:

    Egypt(Ptolemaic Empire):

    Parthia:

    Thrace:

    Dacia: Lenin Cat

    Gauls: Lord of Cats

    Germans:

    Britons: SonofaBooyah

    Iberians:

    Scithyans: Rogue General

This RTD is going to gave basic *introduce miscellaneous setting here* Wars rules. Though, there are several changes that will be listed below:

    Moves
Moves (rolls) can be used in 3 separate domains- Military, Economic and Naval. To develop regions in a certain domain you will need to use an Economy move

Military:Used to attack any other territory in a 2-regions bordering radius. (here we got the classic 1-6 roll, with negative and pozitive bonuses)
Economy:Used for developing regions and getting Denari. (same as above)
Naval: Used for building fleets in a certain Sea Zone and coordinating Sea Assaults.

    Attacking a region
To make things clear, you can only attack regions in a range of 2 regions from a military developed territory.

    Developing
To develop a region you will need to gather 10 points by using Economic moves.

    Economy
Economic regions provide you 1 additional Denari every turn. The amount of Denari you have decides how many moves you can make in the M domain-aka Prestige.
    0-30 Denari- 1 move
    30-100- 2 moves
    100-200- 3 moves

    Navy
To simplify things Fleets will be the same for any successful roll.
1-Epic Fail -1 for building a fleet next turn. -1 Denari
    2-Fail
3-Minor Fail +1 for building a fleet next turn.
    4-Small Success
5-Big Success +1 for building a fleet next turn.
6-Glorious Sucess +1 for any naval action +1 Denari

The Fleet limit is 10 per faction, no matter the Denari

Sea Assaults-You must have a military region and a naval region bordering the same sea region as your target. This proves how difficult were sea-invasions.

    Map

    Posting a turn

Use this example and/or be as accurate as possible, if I can't understand your objectives I will not consider your move valid.

    Military(M): Attack Pella!
Economy(E): Develop Argos as a Naval region!
Naval(N): Build a fleet in Sparta!

Fill in your faction descriptions! Even if it's set-up you can say that the Romans arrived from China 100000000000 years ago, go on!

    The Oracle:

The Senate (Lenin Cat): 2 -The blind woman of Delphi laughs at your try to conquer the world!
Julii (General Maximus): 4 -You will meet many obstacles on your road, but finally you shall triumph.
Brutii (Ivan Braginski): 5 -These men are strong, but their will is easily shaken. Will you survive the end?
Carthage (High Fist): 6 -Gods have blessed this nation's name! The enemy will lay dead on the sands of your land!
Numidia (Rhinelander) : 6 -The people of the desert will come like a storm and very grateful will be the ones to be spared!
GCS (Lord of Dread): 2 -The wealthy people of greece are as incompetent as grand their ancestors were!
Macedon (NobleWoman): 3 -Macedon will suffer greatly, but its chances of success are still existent.
Seleucid Empire(Helius) : 3 -These heirs of Alexander are a stain on his name, though, they still can change a part of the world.
Dacia (Lenin Cat) : 5 -Your men will build the empire, and the empire shall not fall, if you are careful with your words. (???)
    Gauls(Lord of Cats) : 1 -Hahahahahahahhahahahahhahahhhahaah!
Britons(SOAB) :3 -Another unsuccessful tribe, able to do more.
Scithyans(RogueGeneral): 3 - The Oracle is bored! Tell them the same as the ones above!

What do army regions do? What's that weird squiggly thing above Scipio's region in Sicily? More importantly, why haven't I a navy?!

You need Lilybaeum to be a military region to attack in Sicily, or to have a fleet and attack from Carthage.
You don't have a navy because you don't have a navy. You have to build it from a naval region.
The weird squiggly thing is an archipelago.

Army regions can attack in a radius of 2 regions. However, there can be no enemy or rebel gap between the target and the place where you attack from.

The GM is a little tired now... see ya guys next evening.

This map shows how can you attack according to your regions. The easiest one to see is the Seleucid one.
As you can see you can attack:
Any region bordering your Army/Military Region.
Any region bordering one of your own Economy/Navy/Undeveloped territory that is bordering your Army/Military Region.

If you don't need to make armies then why even have army regions?

Is this a viable move? Attacking a region that is bordering a non-military region of yours, that is in turn connected to your army region.

Guess we should talk about this in the group?

You can attack regions that are within a 2-region radius of a Military Region.

The region you are indicating is 5 regions away from your Military Region. So no, that move is not valid.

    House Brutii

Pro-Consosl: Decimus Licius Brutus, and Antonius Publius Brutus
    Pro-Praetor: Julian Armendes
    Military tribune: Marcus Brutus
    Capital: Tarantum
    Legions: Legio I Tarantum

History: We are the Brutus family, those who drove the last kings from Rome and founded the republic. Our republic! The Julii and Scipii may like to think they're something, but they're just the Senate's pawns. We will take our Republic to the world!

    First move:

Marcus Brutus is given his first military campaign, to take Neapolis from the Etruscans. He takes the Legio I Tarantum.

Our second city, Croton, will be built into an economic powerhouse! Trade will flow to and from Greece, Carthage, Sicily, Egypt, our Roman brothers, and perhaps even the barbarians.

“There can be no peace with Romans; men of iron, stone, and lies! There can only be WAR!”

    We are the Celts!

Name of Faction: Tribal Confederation of Gaul (Gaul).
    Name of Capitol: Gergovia
Faction Leader(s): King Baird and Queen Brigid (B&B).
    Government Type: elected constitutional monarchy.
    Official Language(s): Gaulish-dialect of Celtic
    Economic System: bartering
    Official Religion(s): Celtic Paganism
    Faction Colour: Dark Green (r: 0, g: 128, b: 0)
Faction Culture: Despite being called “barbarians” by the salad-eaters in Romeburg, we Celts are a highly sophisticated and wealthy people. Our people are divided into many different tribes, but some powerful ones (like the Arverni) will unite them into mighty confederacies. We live in fortified settlements on top of hills called oppidae. Our society is dominated by the priests (Druids) and warriors classes. The Druids are made of the wisest men and women in the land and serve as judges. We are excellent craftspeople and manufacture exquisite tools and utensils made from shiny metals. Most of us are simple farmers though, who wish to keep our land from being sacked by invaders.
Faction History: The Celtic peoples originated in central Europe in the 1000s BCE. They branched off into different groups and spread westwards. The Celts known as Gauls arrived in their present homeland in the 400s BCE. Some Gauls also settled in northern Italy, and they were the first to encounter the Romans in 390 BCE. A massive Gaullic migration to the east occurred between 281 and 279 BCE, which invaded Thrace, Greece, and Anatolia. The expedition in Anatolia formed the Kingdom of Galatia, which became a source of mercenaries for the great Hellenistic empires of the east. Meanwhile in the west, Gauls and Romans never got along and are in a perpetual state of war…
Faction Military: The Gauls rely heavily on shock troops supported by good cavalry. Many of their shock troops throw javelins before a charge, giving them a stronger punch, but they also sometimes employ shield and spear-walls. All warriors are grouped into warbands; though a bit undisciplined, they form good tactical units in battle. Men serve as slingers, spearmen, swordsmen, and heavy lancers. Women serve as archers and chariot riders.
First Move: The Gaullic war-hosts will strike south towards the sea. We must establish a port from which to send diplomats and trade. Our capital region, Gergovia, will be developed into an economic region as well.

    GENS IVLIA

    The Julii Family

Rome is a place where tradition and history count for much. The legends of the city’s founding are important, and the powerful patrician families are directly descended from the first followers of Romulus. These heroic times demanded harsh, decisive action, and this is a tradition that the often-conservative Romans have maintained to this day. The Romans, including the Julii family, are people for whom politics and war are all or nothing affairs.

The Fates have not always been kind to the Julii. They are a patrician family but one whose star has not always been in the ascendant. The family’s fortunes have declined and then risen over the centuries, so much so that they may almost be considered vaguely parvenu: upstarts newly arrived to wealth, power and authority. With the loss of position and status in the past, the other powerful factions of Rome look down (if only ever so slightly) on these ‘new men’ of Rome. The Julii have had to adjust to the realities of politics and power, and have cultivated their popularity with the common people. The rule of Rome may lie with the Senate for now, but the Julii know that the people also have a say in government. The Senate and the patrician classes need the plebeians to at least go along with their actions.

This populist attitude to the common people puts the Julii at odds with the other great families. Which approach will lead to great power within Rome has still to be decided. The Julii have a commanding position in northern Italy that means they will be in vanguard of any struggle against barbarians. Success there can be translated into political power in Rome itself, as the mob always loves winners...

Flavius Julius, being the oldest member of Julii family, was appointed to govern the northern regions that were plagued by barbarians, after his father died. Julii are at the very frontier of the Republic, standing ready to guard it from any threat, or to expand it on Rome's will. Flavius is an able person, experienced in warfare and not bad at administration. As expected of the Julii, the plebians in Rome like him. The other families view the Julii with indifference for now, but then they are also far wealthier.

Flavius has left his son and future successor, Lucius Julius, to govern his capital-city of Arretium, seeing that Lucius is a very good administrator who could run the province much better than his father. His second son, Quintus, was sent to govern Ariminum. Flavius and his youngest son, Vibius Julius, personally lead the army of the Julii together.

The army of the Julii, under the leadership of the two, attacks the tiny village of Segesta to bring it under the republic. It marks the first step to increase Roman control of Gallia Cisalpina, the fertile lands with many useful resources. Barbarians have lived here since time immemorial, and raided the rich southern territories in the heart of Italia. These barbarians need to be driven out for the better of all the Republic.

This would also be to prevent another instance of Battle of Allia, a great humiliation where the Eternal City of Rome itself was sacked by the Celts under Brennus. The Alpine region is necessary to be guarded, and all passes blocked to prevent the barbarians to flood in and raid Italia.

At the same time, at Arretium, Lucius has planned to build a new trade hub, alongside renovation of the merchant quarters and the administrative complex, to enrich the wealth of the Julii and raise funds for the need of a larger army. Arretium is planned to be established as the economic center of northern Italia.

OOC: Attack north of Arretium, into the port of Segesta (Genoa). Arretium shall also be developed as an economic capital of northern Italy.

    Government Type: hereditary monarchy
Official Language(s): Greek and local dialects
    Economic System: coinage

Horsemen and horsewomen play a huge role in warfare now in combination with sarissa-wielding phalanxes. In addition, Olympias has recruited vast numbers of warrior hosts from other nations like Scythia, Thrace among others. Women serve in the armies and navies as well. Some of the best-known commanders are women, who report directly to Olympias.
