Default Competition voting and Q&A thread

Scriptorium - Winter 2014 Writing Competition

The writing competition is in it's next main stage, the voting phase. Voting is open to the public and everyone is invited to vote for their favorite submission in each category.

Please take note of the rules for voting however, as punishment for any breach of these rules will be accompanied by a penalty of at least a permanent suspension from any future Scriptorium Writing Competitions.

    Competition Voting Rules
    Categories:
    -Themed
    -Long
    -Short

MEMBERS WITH MULTIPLE ENTRIES MAY WIN ONE MEDAL ONLY. IN THE EVENT THEY WIN MULTIPLE MEDALS, ONLY THEIR ENTRY WITH THE HIGHEST OVERALL VOTES WILL RECEIVE A MEDAL, AND THEIR OTHER SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT QUALIFY FOR ANY EQUAL OR LESSER MEDAL.

Librarians shall not be voting on medals except on the "Librarian's Choice" medal, which is a private poll and will be announced in the end with the rest of the awards. Any entry that wins a medal from public voting will not be eligible for Librarian's Choice.

    Awards

Awards for the 4 category winners:
Medallions shall be decided by the general membership. A bronze, silver, and gold award are up for grabs in each category.
Reputation shall be decided by the Chief Librarian, but all entries shall receive some.
    Awards for the winners:
The awayrds shall be decided here through the voting.

    Librarian choise award.
The winner of this award shall be decided by Librarian popular vote. It will not be decided here.

All entries in public polls will be anonymous, and any attempt to endorse your own work or anyone who openly declares the author of any work will be dealt swift judgement by Sauron. If anyone is found to be lobbying for votes via PM or VMs, they will also be disqualified from the competition. And any disqualifications will not be announced until after the competition, so don't think you're being sneaky, I see everything. Winners will be announced within the days of the polling coming to a close.

And to be extra sure you can't say I didn't tell you so, remember, all submissions are to remain anonymous during the voting period. This is to ensure a fair vote with no bias based on the author. ANY attempt by the author of any submission to lobby for votes on this site, or in any way to show which submission is theirs in an attempt to gain votes, will be automatically disqualified. And again, you won't find that out until the voting ends, I like to keep you all in suspense about this. Discussion in this thread about supposed authors is also forbidden. You will not be punished severely if you are merely guessing an author, but still, that discussion is not allowed and anything along those lines will be swiftly deleted. So please everyone, play nice, play fair.

The Chief Librarian is solely responsible for all aspects of the competition. The decisions of the Chief Librarian is final.

In case you have any queries, feel free to post them here or PM a librarian.

Voting will last till April 6th

Out of interest will the competition be getting a front page announcement? The submissions did, and I'm unsure how many people actually know this has started.
Swords of the Sea: 1066 has come and gone, the Danelaw torn down and a new kingdom built in the image of its Norman rulers. But with time, wounds heal and what is broken can be reforged. The Danes have returned with steel, and seek to reclaim what is theirs.
The Great Expedition: Pax Anglia, one of Earth's great empires, sprawling across the stars. On their newly colonised planet of Nova Sydney, adventure awaits on the savage frontier - Henry Boyce steps forward to lead an expedition to pierce the Bushlands' wild heart.
Winter War: Finland, 1939. The Soviet war machine has begun its indomitable advance from the east. Of all its neighbours, only Finland stands alone in defiance. Conscript Anton Bezrukov prepares for a quick victory, but the reality is far bloodier...

Yeah I am thinking that a front page announcement would definitely be a good thing. More traffic = More people = More votes = Better results!

There are some good submissions, it would be a shame if this flew under the radar.

A huge thanks to everyone who voted for Winter War. An even bigger thanks goes to friend and co-writer General Prophet.

Indeed it was, it certainly brightened my entire week.

Huge thanks from me as well to the community, and my friend it was an honour to work with you on this amazing project. Seeing this positive reception of The Winter War was great and it's got the both of us thinking so hey, you guys you might see some pretty interesting things coming from the two Generals in the future.
