well that may be true and I have even seen what you speak of, but can you really blame them for reporting the same thing evveryone else is talking? its not like anyone really gives a what's going on in Ukraine right?

Here's the thing, just to add to what Phier is saying. Every 24 hour news station is a tabloid at least to an extent. They all interrupted a legitimate news story to announce Justin Bieber was arrested. Think about that for a minute guys. Justin Bieber. It's not about the quality of the news that has them broadcasting it though that is certainly a factor, it's what gets them money. They're a business. So every one of them is going to sit there and think 'what will nab me viewers over this 24 hour period'. So, they all had a legitimate international story going on, and they interrupted it for Justin friggin' Bieber.

His celebrity is significant to the extreme right wing, because he is one of their most "recognizable" names in a very limited stable. As for why celebrities endorsements are even relevant in US politics, that has to do with them being more relevant to most people's lives than anything a candidate says or does.

Most people do care more about Justin Bieber than American politics, and can you honestly blame them given their current state (and the debate taking place)? Despite all your rantings here, it is mostly wasted energy for all the results it gets.

Everyone brings up the youtube video of MSNBC interrupting Harmon for the news about Bieber. She had nothing significant to say on the topic that MSNBC hadn't been drilling for hours. You can argue that Bieber being arrested isn't news, but neither was that interview.

If you want to hear Jane Harman rant watch this weeks Real Time with Bill Maher, she was terrible.

This week's Realtime was not that memorable, since the whole panel was trying to push their agenda than really discussing anything. Overtime tends to be better and more relevant.

As for Nugent, in the last decade he graduated from eccentric to crazy, and has become a poster boy of what the left wants the middle to believe isn't just the fringe of the right, but actually most of the base.

I think the base has gotten more extreme since Obama started running, and I do think there has been a resurgence of more open racism and that is why someone like Nugent thinks he can say something like that to them.

Honestly it is nothing worse than I hear from republican developers and home builders in Colorado all the time. Obama being in power makes him a target, and racism is one of the cards his opponents go to because it appeals to some people.

Guy still plays an awesome guitar though. Will shamelessly go to Kentucky State Fair concert and watch him make people deaf. I've never let politics interfere with my enjoyment of music.

(and for the record, on the other side, I still listen to U2 in spite of them being what I see as too pro-gun control and would still go to one of their concerts)
