Should I accept Aragorn's offer?

I can't believe that no one's ever bothered to ask this question but here it is. What are the pros and cons of accepting Aragorn's offer? Is it better to accept or should I just refuse? I really need an answer asap because my game is windowed and the offer is pending as I'm writing this post. Please help me out with some answers!

Is it vanilla? if so you will get aragorn as a really good general. That´s the pro. The negative side should be if i remember correctly that the stewards become worse.

Whoever is his adopted father (benefactor) will begin to get madness traits iirc. A lot of people develop Denethor as a super-governor of Minas Tirith, adding 1000 income per turn and reducing the cost of buildings and troops from that city, so it may be preferable not to ruin Denethor.

Ha ha, very funny. But I mean it in all seriousness, of course.

Also refusing Aragorn will make your faction leader a Firm Ruler and a Stoic. Both are great traits, but especially firm ruler.

The pro is that you can hardly lose a battle with Aragon general, the con is that the other family members will have traits decreased.

He does (edit, know best I mean). If you want to accept Aragorn as Elessar, play the "Return of The King" mod, if you do not play that mod; never accept him. Your own generals can be made just as good as him in any case, if you use them right.

Darng i just made a post in TATW forum asking something similar. I am more concerned with Aragorn been able to rebuilt Arnor if gondor accept his offer ( i am playing both factions in a hotseat campaign). So question is : Would Aragorn been able to rebuilt Arnor if Gondor accept his services as general?.

Apparently not, looking at the script. If you accept the Aragorn offer then Eriador Aragorn is sent off map and a new Aragorn is spawned for Gondor. A condition of Arnor reunion is that Eriador Aragorn exists and being off map does not count as "exists".

Pretty sure you're right. Something about firing scripts in hotseat but I've never played it so not sure.

Yes please. I can't see why that event would not work (when the Aragorn one does), so it would be interesting to have that confirmed one way or the other.

EDIT: Ngugi, maybe a another player (Gondor) accepted the Aragorn offer first? Ah, no, surely you would have noticed his absence.

A noob question but why does adopting Aragorn screw your other generals? Usually when I adopt I don't get any problems

Any steward will go "deranged" (getting penalties trough increasingly worse traits) as long as Aragorn is accepted until he either dies or trough much work and deaths become the faction leader himself, IIRC?

Hey, hate to revive an old thread, but I do think I have something to add.
Editing the campaign script is not save game compatible (as far as I know anyway) however, you can use the command console to remove the bad traits it gives Denathor. Just type in Remove_trait Denethor "trait you want to remove"
