Next Major Update v2.4 (The MEGANING) - Plan and Progress
Hi All
Here is what we are currently working on for the next update v2.4 and what phase we are currently in. Ill update this regularly to keep you all up to date with how we are progressing.
As always, if you want to help out, send me a message or post on the recruitment thread.
Faction Overhauls
The Greeks:(202 new hoplon patterns + 80 linothoraxes finished)

Ardiaei- none

Makedon - research
Parthia - 90% Complete (only stats and unit card left to do)
Bactria - Research and textures
Germanic - 98% complete (only stats left to do)
Ptolemaics - 0%
Seleucids- 10%
Bithniya: 50%
Armenia - 2%
Britain: 30%
Dacia: 0%
Arabia:
Nabataea: 10%
Aetolian League: 50%
Mauryan Satrapy Arachosia: 5%
Reworking and Improving Existing Overhauls:
Rome: 20%

Gaul: 50% (Additional Research Complete)
Further expansion of army stances - planning (force march replacement released already)
English Unit names added Short Descriptions - 100%
Recruitment overhaul 1 rec slot for each region +1 for barracks +1 for Capitol - completed
Big Startpos Changes: WIP
Edicts overhaul: planning
custom AOR system for overhauled factions - done
New Club and Axe animation sets - (interim animation mod will be used till ours is finished) 25%
Additional terrain cursors - completed
Unit and equipment Stat Overhaul - 70% (base system design is finished, now in tweaking and testing phase)
New Weapon Models - (Germanic: Framea (short spear), Saex (Single Edged Sword) Hellenic: Sarissa, Hoplite Spear, aspis others to come), greco-parthian helmet.
Increased Ammo for artillery
Review of ammo for non artillery
Change in mod organisation:
Special Ability Overhaul: New abilities added and magic ones removed.
Building Overhaul: They wont even be buildings anymore
Resource overhaul: Planned 35 different resources. See thread for more deail.
Regional Surprise
UI changes
Difficulty Changes

Greece is going to be awesome!
Mostly because the rest of the world is filled with barbarians, but also because they're going to look so snazzy

Naval overhaul completed! Woo hoo! Cant wait for the shields but more interested in the equipment that complements them. Will the Regionary Legionaries (so sorry) be clones with or will they also field different equipment sets, as well?

We are indeed buying clones from Kamino to fill the Roman Legions, but the equipment will be.. better.. hopefully.

Im currently updating the mod for the patch that was released today.
As an added bonus, I will be including the naval overhaul that was going to be released in 2.4 in this update instead.

Well at the moment we are filtering out the matched combat animations that arent appropriate for axes and clubs. so not new animations per se but new sets of animations. So a club wielding unit shouldnt be going around stabbing someone through the stomach or chopping their head off.

Are there any plans for custom content: sounds, animations, textures, hair? Im tired of seeing white Romans, or worse, those Barbarian perms.

sounds - no
animations - looking into it atm (probably)
textures - LOTS AND LOTS of new textures eg we have made abt 80-100 shield textures for the greek overhaul already as well as much more you will have to wait and see
hair - kinda yes, but not what you are thinking
weapons - we are currently making new weapon models
and lots more

Sounds awesome. I'm looking forward to checking out the new meshes and the new Germanic weapons are a nice touch! Single edged Germanic swords at last

they will probably have 2 seasons per year and alternate between years i expect.

A 4 turns per year module is currently available, and we are optimizing everything for 4 turns per year (it's quite nice when seasons make sense).

The new startpos wont be until 2.4 and it will be quite a change and require some serious balancing before release.
Also we are getting pretty close to doing some previews for the Germanics and for the different Greek factions so stay tuned.

I notice you're researching for the Ardiaei. Are you going to tie that in with a general Illyrian overhaul or are they only on there because vanilla says they are Greek? The Illyrians could really do with their own culture and while the Ardiaei state had ties to Makedon, they were clearly not Greeks by any stretch of the imagination, being a raiding, piratical "barbarian" culture with a distinct (though little known) language or language group.
Also, previews, sweet.

Well atm no research has been done on them (we are low on researchers) but we plan on doing them for the next update. Whether they make it in or not is another story entirely. But eventually all factions regardless of size or importance will be overhauled with realistic rosters

i have a little concern with this " Recruitment overhaul 1 rec slot for each region +1 for barracks +1 for Capitol - completed " seems to benifit player more than the AI ? if player just builds up a massive army and steam roll the AI isnt gonna like that rule lol
