dont want to break it to you guys, but pots full of snakes were used during Succession wars as a valid naval tactics... they thrown them on board of enemy ships so crew was completely pacified out of fear... never heard about throwing bee hives, but i wouldnt discourage it completely as not plausible..

only thing from my side would be critics to CA for spending their time creating unnecessary units and mechanics in game, while there are so many basic things still missing... like Slashing weapon animations, or proper naval combat (boarding action is completely BS, ships getting automatically burned just because crew is losing melee, ignoring the marines of friendly ship helping them etc...)

These new units must be pretty bad arse then, i would have presumed the effects could have been replicated through mods anyway, (lower damage, decrease morale effect) but what is most concerning, these late tier weapons hardly ever get used in my campaign games, most factions can be wiped out without ever needing to go down such research paths. They may have some use in MP deathmatch games, but really are quite pointless for the single/MP campaign.

Unless its a way of breaking bottleneck points, by making a unit rout of a spot, like firing obstacles that causes your units to rout off the point, or move around it, then it could be somthing different, i don't know, but it seems bloated to me. Also why can't they just change the ammo type, there shouldn't have to be a complete new unit for it i would imagine.

If it offers a new mechanic alltogether that can't be replicated with mods, that would be cool i guess, but as i mentioned, in order for this to be of use to the player in SP/MP campaigns, the whole game needs to be brought up to par, so these weapons have more use.

Seems like someone at CA read Adrienne Mayor's Greek Fire, Poison Arrows and Scorpion Bombs.

    Thanks Honga!

Anyways, why molossian dogs for Epirus?

Epirus must have the Leukospides(White-Shields) instead of dogs as their unique unit....

For camels, i didnt know that camels also formed diamond formation in real life... i thought horse cavalry only did that...

The Molossians were also renowned for their vicious hounds, which were used by shepherds to guard their flocks. This is where the canine breed Molossoid, native to Greece, got its name. Virgil tells us that in ancient Greece the heavier Molossian dogs were often used by the Greeks and Romans for hunting (canis venaticus) and to watch over the house and livestock (canis pastoralis). "Never, with them on guard," says Virgil, "need you fear for your stalls a midnight thief, or onslaught of wolves, or Iberian brigands at your back."

Diamond formation was only used by Macedonian Cavalry during Alexander's time.. these formations were only used by well trained cavalry, which was hard to come by.. Romans for example preferred using 3 rank line formation instead, which allowed them to overlap any deep cavalry formations. Later, this 3 rank deployment was quite commonly used. Overall, line formation for cavalry gives more punch, as more cavalrymen are in initial contact, but it makes a bit more problematic to maneuver if needed, therefore this deployment was mostly used by heavy cavalry, while lights still used deep column like formations that allowed them to change direction quickly if needed.

overall, i think main problem is that CA failed to understand what is really important for good battle gameplay... it is not the variety of units, or magic abilities that makes battles good... its the overall system that needs to keep overall balance in check. otherwise you end up with game where things are added but just destroy the gameplay completely... look at artillery as it is right now... it shoots way too accurately, way too fast, and CA instead of working on making them function more realistic to be not this OP, they add another type of ammo to them...

    Thanks sertorio and jam....

Anyways, if your going to ask me, i prefer leukospides over dogs.
Leukospides(white shield) is counter part of Epirus to silvershield of seleucid and bronzeshield of pontus...

At camel, why do they also have diamond formation in the game?

Looks like CA has run aground on "innovative" methods to get more money...

Though I agree in general the Theme of this DLC is about using animals in war, unless the whiteshields were known to throw live rabbits at their enemy they won't be going into the game this time around.

Now we can easy figure why CA felt it was about time to finally give us african elephants - to prevent people from sayng that a game with bee onagers didn't even had proper elephants in it.
