total war is always about reacting strategically to the vast variety of war possibilities that could occur, its what makes it fun, all factions are in a Total War, a competition for land. Having The Gorons only attack the zora would just be predictable

That is absolutely correct. It's what make the series so unique. Sure, I could just sit around as Prussia in ETW and wait for Napoleon to come kick my ass, or I could mop the floor with Europe and turn eastward just in time to engage in a World War 1 scenario with India! I do think, however, that Neph's "cordial faction/rival faction" thing is a great feature and should possibly be expanded, cus it does make sense lore-wise for certain factions to turtle a bit more *cough cough goron blitzkrieg cough*.

    - Midoro, Moruge, and Parapa are from Zelda II
    - Picorou Ruins are from Minish Cap.
    - Ok Ru is Moblin for "Return of Summer."
    - Airu was the first Zora in records that took a Hylian wife.
    - Ontheon is likely a simplification of the Cliff Lord words Onth Arkeon which means "House of Lords"
    - Nayrunis is High Zoran for Nayru's gaze or Nayru's watch.
    - Rutoval is derived from the High Zoran words Ruton (love) and Val (paradise, a really really nice place)
    - Vigjaro is derived from the Ancient Hylian Words Vigas (shaded, in the shadow of) and Jaro (pass, road, trail)
    - Zunayus is Zuna for House of Zuna
    - Gor is just a prefix Gorons like to put before things, it pretty much just means "Belonging to Gorons" or otherwise lets people know Gorons are involved. Dalagra was the last Goron King before they were enslaved by Volvagians.
    - Baral's Stand was the place where the last battle of a Darknut civil war took place before the Legion was formed. Baral alone supposedly held off an entire army and helped found the Legion. He's considered a Darknut god.
    - Greshou is High Zoran for Library, specifically a really big one.
    - Ayloch, Seshei, and Malcove don't really have any meanings, I forgot why I came up with them and I suppose the people of Hyrule did too.
    Interesting...

Actually, you might be able to involve or hint at the meaning of thee names; for example have Greshou start with a library, Rutoval start with Gardens...

Why didn't they use a portmanteau of the spouses as the name of the settlement? I find it hilarious that sexism / racism trumps over romanticism even in Lanayru Province.

I withdraw the previously posted question here in order to remain safely well within TWC guidelines. Such question was not intended to be pervy or offensive, but since no answers are available, it is pointless anyway.

Perphaps Zora men can fecundate Hylian women?

    @Apani
Perhaps Airu was the photogenic one? And anyway, given the amount of matriarchially inclined factions and the high proportion of female characters, I'm not sure if that's entirely a problem...

    @Brihentin
Beware; posts have been deleted by moderators on such topics... However, I'd assume it's whatever the mother's own biology allows for.

Yeah, actually I made this thread hoping that Neph himself would give a definitive answer.

Yes, I have since edited it to be more vague. I think I'll just remove to be safe since no one knows anyway.

If you think you're being vulgar, you should have read how Octozoras were born in the Gerudo Wars (I realize I'm not helping).

Good call. Another victory for self-censorship!

A question of my own then. What do people think Hyrule's relations with their neighbours are? We all know the AI will make sure the Kingdom invades the player despite alliances, strategic reasoning and no matter how many other factions are in the way, but what's the lore basis?

    From Zelda Wiki:

We are in danger of extinction! It's all because we can't enter our quarry, the Dodongo's Cavern."
"We Gorons live on a diet of rocks... And the most delicious and nutritious rocks around are found in the Dodongo's Cavern!
    "
"But that seems like ancient history now... We've become such gourmets that we can't stand to eat rocks from anywhere else!"

So, they eat mainly valuable rocks. They can probably afford it with their low numbers. I guess I could give higher farming levels to regions with more valuable ores. Also, I found an interesting article which compares Gorons to Pandas: http://www.zeldadungeon.net/2010/02/...e-giant-panda/
    Gourmet doesn't mean valuable.

what would high-quality Goron foods be anyway? What are bistro-rocks and how are the best mineral foods prepared? Do gemstones count as better foods, or would a mason with Michelin stars rely on other materials?

LOL oh I know. I just figured that, if no information(and thus reward) was to be gleaned, then no risk should be taken, no matter how seemingly insignificant. I do think that people are a little too touchy on this(it is a rather mature lore), but, on the off chance that some 5 year old has mommy's computer and looks up "Zelda games" and finds this, well, I don't want to be THAT GUY who destroyed their innocence and fractured their fragile little mind.

Of course, as VictorAYorke pointed out, we don't know the nutritive value each mineral has to Gorons.

Which just further proves my point.

As for children; your child shouldn't be on the internet in the place because anything you search for will lead you to porn or worse. Try image searching any cartoon, video game, anime, or such and you're almost guaranteed to stumble across some rule 34; especially if you're deep enough in to discover something like HTW. Therefore I will not censor myself because some welfare let her brat on the internet.

You are also correct. Parents need to supervise their young children, or preferably use the internet for them to find what they need by filtering through the crap themselves. It is a dirty place, but that's what makes it beautiful: the unrestricted flow of information. While I prefer to be more cautious, I respect you wishing to exercise your right to say whatever you please, whenever you please.

Thinking about it again, it actually could among the Gorons, at least. Wine is more precious than Wheat.
