Hello everyone,
I am relatively new to this forum but have been playing RTR for nearly two years and thoroughly enjoy the content that the development team has produced with RTRVI and RTRVII. I have tried searching these forums and google for an answer but have had no luck. One of the changes in RTRVII that I enjoy thoroughly is the Roman Leadership system and the offices that you can distribute to your family members. In the beginning of a new campaign, I have no problem with distributing senior offices such as praetor and consul to family members (such as Decius Mus) but find myself mid-game with very few family members that even survive to become a praetor/consul, which can become problematic for expanding into new territories.
In a best case scenario, I can usually have a family members become a military tribune at age 26, quaestor at age 46, aedile at age 56-58, praetor at age 62-64 and consul at age 68-70 but only if I adopt a noble when they are of 16 years of age or if a male member of my family tree comes of age. I understand that it took a considerable amount of time and gravitas to reach the senior offices in ancient times but realistically, the average age of a praetor during the Roman Republic would have been around 40 and late 40s for a consul. Heck, you were considered lucky to live past 60 if you lived in Rome during the 3rd century BC.
So, I am wondering if someone could please tell me how I can reduce the duration of time that a family member must hold an appointment for before he can move up the "Cursus Honorum" to realistically represent the age of a family member and the office they are eligible to hold.
Thank you.
