We highly appreciate feedback of all types because it is how we are able to continually improve the mod and make the player experience as good as possible. I believe we have a very positive history of player interaction and response to our fan base. You all are the reason we are working so hard to make this mod as good as possible.
Having said that, I have updated the FAQ to include some basic requests. These exist to help us keep focused on producing new content and fixing the mod.
Q. I have encountered a bug or crash while using this mod, what can I do?
A. First, make sure it is the mod. Try using DeI only and see if the bug/crash still happens. If applicable, see if the bug is present in the vanilla version of the game. Second, make sure you don't have any older mods in your data folder. There is a known issue where older mods that aren't active can still cause problems. Lastly, make sure you don't have any mod conflicts. If you have determined it is definitely the mod causing the bug/crash, then please do a search for similar reports using the forum search or checking the Bug Reports thread. If there haven't been any other reports, please post the bug once in the Bug Reports thread with a specific account of when/how the bug happened, mods used and, if possible, a save game or image file. Please do not post it in multiple places, we will check the Bug Reports regularly.
Q. There is a mod feature I do not like or that does not work as I think it should, where can I report it?
A. Please use the Feedback thread, but remember to be civil and also specific about the issue. Also, please remember that we are doing this for free and work very hard to try to provide a certain type of experience for Rome 2. We have to take into account various preferences and desires while also maintaining our vision for the mod. We cannot make a version of the mod for every taste, but we do appreciate any and all suggestions.
------------
The reason I have added these to the FAQ is a hope that new and even current users will take note of them. I have noticed a trend of people reporting bugs that are from vanilla (or aren't even bugs, just features they don't like), bugs caused by another mod, bugs caused by a mod conflict or older mod, and non specific bugs without reference/image/save game. Some users report bugs without doing their own research to determine if the bug has already been reported, if the bug could be caused by something other than DeI, or if it is even a bug (some bug reports are actually feedback on features). Also, bugs are being reported across various threads rather than the one Bug Report thread.
I am not asking users to stop reporting bugs but just the opposite. We want to be able to concentrate on advancing the mod with new content and fixing real bugs rather than chasing down bugs that either weren't from our mod, weren't bugs or were user error. A small amount of work on your part before posting a bug (research, testing) will save us hours on our end. I am also not asking users to stop giving feedback, but please use the feedback post. You can, of course, still start threads about certain issues if you want a general discussion with users and developers about that issue.
