This is my very first campaign out of two campaigns in total... from December I guess. Started playing EU4 again and got literally addicted to it.

So you did end up making the Macedonian empire that you planned way back in August, good on you:

What I find most interesting about these images is not the extent of the player's empires, but how the AI empires are managing and growing.

My first few campaigns had really odd dominant factions, like Nasamones or Daorsi. It's really cool to see Pontus, Egypt, Perisa and Arvernia create great empires away from the player interference. (As the player focuses elsewhere)

I just started an Egypt campaign, and I might log in to get a screenshot later to show, but I really like how Macedonia, Selucids, Pontus and Rome were all doing well as I secured Africa. Rome has eliminated the Etruscans, and taken Appolonia and the city just north of it, as well as moved into Cisalpina and taken Cart Hadasht from Carthage. Ponuts controls all of Bosphorus, and North Eastern Turkey. Macedonia has secured it's location and eliminated Athens, but lost it to Sparta, so it's Sparta vs Macedon for control of the Greek Homelands. I can't really see where the Selucids are farther East, but they control Syria still.

Carthage was doing ok, but ended up in a war with Libya, and the other tribes from North Africa, I think the Galamatians took Thapsus and Carthage, while Libya took Lillybaeum and Syracuse and killed off Carthage.

As Egypt, I control Libya, Aegyptus and Aethyopia and the 2 starting cities in Nabatea, and the Galamations and Masaeysli fresh off their ass kicking of Carthage, figure to take on Egypt. So instead of expanding East, they've declared war and determined that Egypt will take over all of Africa before deciding where to expand next. I've taken all of Phazania and now I'm trying to consolidate and bring order under control before moving farther West

My first proper playthrough since release that did not end in frustration in 50 turns at the state of the game. Heavily modded BAI and CAI. I realised early on Allies and treaties were no longer a useless feature but a necessity to survive. I was only able to expand out of Italy because of my allegiance with Athens, Egypt, Syracuse, Sparta. As well as many non aggression pacts with barbarians in the north and Illyrians. Syracuse and myself ended up dividing Carthage and her allies amongst each other while my northern and eastern borders lay quiet. The Turdetani actually took most of Spain and Mauritania with me but I did not trust them and once I had no other active threats I commenced a Blitzkrieg from all sides and absorbed them into my now burgeoning empire. Pretty good considering I could not attempt to leave Italia for the first 40 turns, as I was fending off constant attacks. Egypt picked up pace wiping out the Seleucids and Athens cleaned up Macedon before both taking apart everyone in Turkey.

Syracuse became ambitious and went on a African Tribe roflstomp. Taking everything Egypt couldn't or lost. Egypt seemed to run out of steam and started losing territory to Ethiopian tribes and Armenian expansion. I wanted to assist them but Delmatae had become a regional power and taken all of Illyria and had moved into Cisalpine. The Insubres who I had been placating out of fear since the beginning of the game as they held absolute control of the north offered themselves as a client state to me. I accepted and went on a rampage with 8 full stack armies taking apart the Delmatae Kingdom. Athens joined in and I willingly let them take Illyria and offered battle support. I decided I had enough of the three musketeers in Raetica et Noricum having threatened me and declaring open war for no reason other than they thought I would not fight back. I promptly wiped them out and Romanised their lands. Taking half of Pannonia with that push and ending the Illyrian war.

At that point the Arverni offered me a full Military Alliance. They being both reliable and reasonably strong I took it as it allowed me to regroup my forces and more importantly re train them as I had just unlocked the Legion Barracks.
The only hostile border I shared at that point were with the Boii who owned all of Hercynia, Silesia, part of Dacia and Sarmatia. Though we were not in open war. being able to field 12 Armies now and not needing to garrison any of my European settlements I started sending on groups of 2 Armies down the nile to assist Egypt and Syracuse who had both become inept and unable to hold off the Ethiopian tribes. I secured lower Egypt and Syracuse promptly retook it. I stationed my armies near their cities to ward off further attack and await my other armies to arrive.

Meanwhile in the north The Boii allied with the Cherusci and the other non Suebi german tribe. Who had been kicking the Suebi all around the map. Initially the Cherusci owned all of Germania Minor and Magna Germania as well as Lufdurnum.
I had a long standing non aggression pact with them and they had repeatedly attempted to from a defensive alliance with me. So I had no intention of attacking them. They also seemed content to allow me to swallow up their allies lands and push them north. I assumed as much and had 4 full stacked armies in the north to fight an all out war in case anyway. However, somehow, the Cherusci managed to sneak past Noreia and take Koria in Raetica et Noricum. Their northern german ally joined the war as well.

With the Boii struggling to stop me marching into Silesia and taking their final strongholds I had to halt and repel the Cherusci. Fortunately my earlier alliance came in handy. As the Arverni having just finished establishing the First French Republic and wiping out their long standing enemies the Aedui I got both them and the Insubres my client state to declare war on the germans. The Iceni are firm allies of both mine and the Arverni so they joined in and all the pressure on me was pulled away by the gaulish storm coming from the west. I proceeded to separate the Cherusci eastern forces from assisting the Boii while their only other ally the Atrebartes were too busy cowering in Sarmatia and offering me peace every turn. (Ironically the Getae who were neutral with me until the turn before those screenshots has been wiping them out for me, almost like they were trying to impress me or something because after they pushed into Sarmatia they instantly asked for a Military Alliance). The Insubres at this point decided to betray both me and the Arverni so I decided to finish off my sets and take Genua and Massilia while leaving their northern territory to the Arverni.

At the present the war in the north is nearing its end. I am letting the Arverni finish them off as they cannot possibly assault my holdings and the gauls could singehandelt wipe them on their own. I turned my attention to the growing conflict between the Media Atrapatene Empire and my own. I have decided to Secure Ethiopia first and rather than chase Media and Armenia through the desert I am gonna come out of it. Securing Arabia Minor first then expanding north and pushing them into Iraq and Parthia.

Hopefully Egypt can get its act together and be a decent power again as it seemed an unstoppable force in the beginning of the game. No they are not suffering food or money shortages. Just don't seem to be capable of holding their own territory anymore or following up their victories with taking nearby towns.

Anyways I am sorry this is long I did not mean for this to be an AAR, but I felt the need to give a reasonable explanation of the above images and to show that I am truly enjoying the game in its current state heavily modded.

Lastly I am going for a military victory and only need to secure one settlement in Armenia with my military Alliance with Egypt it will be game over. I am gonna try and wipe out Armenia and Media first though.

    Cheers,
    Mono.

    Leftcoaster:

I also find the AI empires to be the most interesting part of other people's campaigns.
I should update my little empire, as only two turns into my war with the Kingdom of Gaul, the monstrous Boii empire absorbed the K.o.G and is now leading it. It's disturbingly large. And I fear the Nervii are the next to be absorbed.

In the beginning of the campaign, Macedon actually encompassed the whole of Macedonia, most of Thrace, and part of Illyria. But, the Greeks took offense and just whittled away at them by the time I posted my screen.

Here is my Egypt Empire another 10 years in. (90 total turns)
    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=219928078

I tried inserting the image, but I can't seem to directly pull the image, only the steam page where it's located.

Sparta seems to have won the battle for Greece, though Macedonia hasn't been eliminated yet, and I can't see what cities they might have left

Arvernia seems to have taken most of coastal Iberia, and Nabatea decided to take on the Selucids while I was busy in Western Africa.

Pontus was pushed around a bit, but still holds Bosphorus and a good chuck on central Turkey.

I've pushed West, but it's slow going, if I push too far forward, there's always an army that sneaks through the desert to undefended cities at the back, and now Libya has decided to suddenly declare war. The good news is by taking Dimiddi(sp?) I moved up one notch of Imperium so I can recruit 2 more armies to help deal with Libya.

I've been playing as Rome for a while now, but the easiness of the actual campaign has made it really boring. Nonetheless, I'll post the pictures so you could see my enormous amount of money. Dunno where and how I managed to get that much, and it's probably the biggest amount out of all campaigns I've had since the first Medieval. It's over 2.270.000!

Yeah, at the end of my Rome campaign, I had taxes as low as they would go and would still bring in over 35k per turn.

Switching to Empire after the civil war reduces corruption like 25%, which had a MASSIVE effect on my income.

My Backtrian campaign.... I think i am at like turn 160 something... I do not remember.... VH/VH... I would play legendary but i hate not being able to save when i need to run out the door for work.

Here are some of my fronts... Ionia...with newly taken Rhodes...

The Trade hub of my empire... the proud Bosporus.. (was a huge win in my campaign when I took the Bosporus.... many years of fighting stacks of steppe raiders and finally the gem.... open trade with practically the entire world!

My Indian ocean port. I did not get this until late game as alliance restrictions made it impossible to get land down there. I was stuck with either remaining in this forced coalition against the Seleucid's or face 4 factions.... I waited until I had some of my own allies and a stronger position before finally taking Aria, Persia and Media on.... luckily the Anara( dont know how to spell their full name) friends I have had since the beginning stuck with me... yet staying neutral in the whole war. Pontus joined in and we were able to defeat Armenia along with the other 3 I mentioned forming a strong alliance together....

And here is home... A peaceful land with no military buildings... Political strife brews as the empire gets larger... hoping the civil war just happens already or doesnt !

So far I have enjoyed my Bactrian campaign..... It has been both challenging and entertaining. I love their unit roster and the fact they are a Hellenistic state way out in Afghanistan... I have had to play the game extremely diplomatic facing a large number of both steppe hordes who hate me and Persians who only were my friend because I was willing to stay at war with Seleucid with them the entire game.

As for other powers... Athens has created another Empire.... bigger than mine ruling all of Greece, thrace, Bulgaria, and southern part of modern day Ukraine.... they own southern Italy, Sicily, Carthage and I beleive a lot of north Africa.... their allies the Spartans have a pretty large empire too, spread out around the med..... Egypt is also their ally and they are strong holding all of Seleucid's past territories plus egypt itself. Pontus wants me to help them with a war agaisnt egypt but I do not want to start with the Athenians as their navy is huge (10 stacks I have spotted in all navy wise, plus they ship full stacks around quite often of troops...) Ionia would be a warzone if i acted agaisnt the Athenian allies.... Rome is doing alright... tho i am kind of happy Athens is the super power and not rome... Rome I ... always was covered with Romans late game...

The Barbarians are killing eachother and power shifts... the Germans are the strongest however they seem to be pretty passive except agaisnt one foe at a time....

All and all, the campaign has been good..

Playing as Carthage. I think I've done a very dandy job when it comes it filling my coffers.

    Many turns later:

I'm taxing Mauritania, Pharzania or whatever, and the one with Qart Hadasht that I'm blanking on. Simply to get the food. As I really, really don't need the tax money. Using a few mods that change recruitment, retraining, and 2tpy.

I was once an Angel of Total War Heaven, but gave up my wings for a life on the sea of battle.

I've made a little progress since my last post. It's turn 375, 147BCE (3TPY), and things are getting interesting. My satrapies have dwindled down to just the Triballi, Gaetuli are my only client kingdom, though I have a few allies: Seleucid, Masaesyli, Marcomanni (liberated), Caledones (liberated), Anartes (liberated), the Alpine tribes (all liberated, but all have discarded military access with Rome in recent years), Majan Empire, and Seleucid (who has been trying to drag me to war with the Kingdom of Araba (Ardhan's emblem?) and the Majan Empire in Arabia is starting to take offense to my posturing against Axum.

Civil war is brewing, though. As Sardes and Cappadocia, former allies of Rome, are building up their forces along their borders (met in kind by Rome), the politics are coming to a boiling point.

All map Suebi colored, by year 80 or something. Was taking it slower than normally becuase I wanted culture to convert before moving on, quite an annoying thing to wait for really. Quite easy to describe that without a screenshot really.

i feel like im doing something wrong when people are at like turn 80 an finished the game im just about on turn 70 keeping my population happy while battling endless waves of agents its quite annoying, the random thing is cathage, Nova Carthage, Suebii are allied with me, Nova Carthage being a satrapy, to carthage, Majority of the barbarian factions are at war with me, so iv kinda been holding my ground fighting them off, while trying to make moves on Sparta because they just went to war with me. The Avernii seem to be doing the most damage at the moment.
