[This was an old poem I wrote back when I was still in the military. It was not so much an expression as much it was a message to a woman who I actually came very close to proposing to. In the end, however, things didn't work out.]

I am who I am.
You may not understand who I am.
You may never understand.
None will ever know what I have suffered to be where I am or who I am.
You may never understand why I do what I do.
I will never tell you it will not be okay, even if it's not at the moment. Things always happen for one reason or another.
I hope you can find solace in them.
I can never make you any guarantees when I know it's not so.
I said I may not be what you expect me to be.
I also said I can't promise I will return.
I hope you continue to live without me.
I hope that what you find today is better than yesterday.
I hope you can find someone that can give you what I never could.
I hope that you can have something better than me.
I hope that you won't forget me.
But at the same time.
I hope that you do.
