Thread: SaveParser - Editor for Total War savegames - v1.40.0.0

  1. #181

Default Re: Savegame Parser - support tool for EditSF and Editor - v1.5.2.2

The bottom-right letters indicate which mode the Saver Parser is in, right? At start-up, the program defaults to Shogun 2 in the Game Menu and the bottom right, but it has the edit tab. Once I change to Empire or Napoleon, the edit tab is removed. (I can't select Rome, and selecting Shogun 2 doesn't remove the tab.)

In addition to this, I still get an unhandled exception when trying to read the character table. Here is that error's dialogue, plus a picture.

    1.5.2.3
    - Bugfix: displaying tables if not having Rome2 installed
    - removed unused columns in table faction for non-Rome2 games

Default Re: Savegame Parser - support tool for EditSF and Editor - v1.5.2.3

    It works. Thank you.

So far Money, Rank and Skill points has been successfully edited.

    UI Thoughts
*The characters filter should have options for agents and generals.
*When using the faction filter, the Active list has no entries, while the Destroyed list is full. Possibly a mix-up?
*The region tab should have filters according to specialization, and its faction array should take ownership into account.

    Desirable features:

*Being able to directly assign appropriate skills, traits, and retainers to a character. Generals don't get Daiymo retainers, but Daiymos get special retainers and the General retainers.
*Segregating the campaign types from each other when altering the file. Various effect bundles, buildings, units, retainers, skill trees, and agents belong to different campaigns.

Just a quick question, how did you import skill point changes into the campaigns? I can't get it working and nobody's answering my thread. Maybe you can.

You first parse the character tab, it defaults to the clan that you are playing. Then you go to the seventh column, and edit skill points by double-clicking on the entry box and typing in a value. Note that you need to increase a character's rank to spend the points in-game, since skills are locked behind certain rank thresholds. If you want to get retainers, drop your rank to 0 after you have bought the skills you want - retainer slots and items are acquired through normal rank progression.

    Ranks are as follows: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Go with 5 for rank thresholds.

I mostly wanted to know if it's the startpos that you're exporting into the main game directory.
And I don't know if I missed something, but you're talking about Shogun 2?

Just Shogun 2, via savefile. I haven't messed around much with start.pos yet, as it was only recently that I returned to Shogun 2.

"When using the faction filter, the Active list has no entries, while the Destroyed list is full. Possibly a mix-up?" yes correct but it is more a left-over. those faction filters are useless for non-Rome2 game. That's why those filters for shogun2 will be removed with next version. The demanded Character filters I will implement for Shogun2. So far the the edit-abilities are focusing for Rome2 mainly. For the other games it is more as support when using EditSF to find the proper entries. But as mentioned in ReadMe.txt more edit-features for Shogun2 are planned and will come.

    You edited the savefile itself?

SaveParser edits .save and .esf files. You can also use EditSF to alter .save files, to a greater extant than SaveParser is currently capable of. (Adding bundle effects, for instance.) You can use PackFileManager to investigate the .db file and figure out the name and location of effects, traits, skills, retainers, and so forth. This can get tedious, which is why I prefer using SaveParser as it lets me get straight to the good stuff.

SaveParser Tool cannot started anymore if the Rome2 (v.2.0.0) game is running since pack files are locked now by the game.
So I recommend to start the parser first.

    Errors:
    - parsing the faction table can result into an error because of a "broken" entry in the economics in player faction ("balance"), also EditSF has a problem there. I will catch this with next version. This happens only with Rome2 v.2.0.0

    1.5.2.4
    - Fix: Rome2 (v2.0.0) can have broken entries for economic history (history - [X] / ECONOMICS_DATA ). Also EditSF has problems there. Those will be catched now, if no valid entry can be found, balance is displayed as "-999999";
    - Fix: faction table filter removed for non-Rome2 games
