Secondary weapons and armor upgrades
Hello EB team, you're doing great work!
I have a few questions, answer them if you have the time.
1. How will armor upgrades look like for the common troops, for example, a celtic spear warband?
Will they get heavier clothes, leather armor, helmets, etc? How many armor upgrade levels will there usually be for a unit?
2. Will all hoplite-like units be able to switch to swords or other secondary weapons like some units were able in EB1? I like the idea of having Triarii being able to be swordsmen as well as spearmen.
3. Unit recruitment replenishment rates? Like Medieval 2 vanilla, faster, slower?
4. Economy? Will most factions struggle even in mid-late game, or is it possible for a steady economy without constant looting?
I remember my Roman campaign from EB1. Money, money everywhere!
I also remember my Sarmatian campaign. I had to loot a city every few turns to keep myself from going bankrupt. I had a third of the troop numbers I had in the Roman campaign, maybe even less. I also had a lot of cities with mines - but I still struggled.
Thank you all!
Rad

Re: Secondary weapons and armor upgrades
Judging from what I've read in previews and comments from devs, it would appear the armor upgrades-mechanic will be used in reforms as shown above, representing developments or just changes in armor and clothing for some units. So for example the Batoroi above are now wearing bronze helmets, they might very well be wearing more iron helmets and perhaps chainmail, as well as long trousers and closed footwear further in the game. As for replenishment, I suppose this will depend greatly on the quality and relative rareness of the unit, and I imagine it will generally be somewhat lower than Vanilla M2tw.

Re: Secondary weapons and armor upgrades
OK
How will the armor upgrades be triggered? By simply building a better armory, or achieving a set of goals like in EB1?
By the way, will there be a Slavic unit, like Voinu? Screenshots would be a great Christmas present for this Slav

I wish to see hoplites and phalangites fight with swords in close combat, but also archers, and any other unit that has a secondary weapon ...

Re: Secondary weapons and armor upgrades
I also have a question, though not strictly related to this threads topic, came to mind with the picture posted in #2.
I apologise if this is too far off-topic but that pic in the 2nd post piqued my thoughts and I didn't think it worth creating a new thread for.
When exactly does 'combat bonus in woods' apply?
It's been a mystery to me for years actually. (The same question applies please to all the 'combat bonus in X')
Does the combat bonus apply for every unit with that trait when a battle that takes place in 'woods tile' on the campaign map?
Or does it only apply to those units during a battle when that particular unit is located in or near trees on the battle map?
If it's this, then surely the 'combat bonus in snow' (for example) would apply to every unit with that trait all over the battle map, since the whole map would be 'snowy'?
Does it increase attack power, or defense, or charge bonus, or all stats, or something else?
many thanks.

Re: Secondary weapons and armor upgrades
I thought the hoplite/secondary weapon bug was still with us, and thus no change from EB1?

Re: Secondary weapons and armor upgrades
The engine doesn't handle units with two melee weapons well, but we'll see. Maybe EB will surprise us.
